About The Position

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) leads the full lifecycle of design and construction projects across NYCEDC's real estate assets, with responsibility for capital planning, design coordination, and construction execution across new construction, renovations, major infrastructure, and public open space development. The AMDC team manages the planning, design, and construction of a diverse portfolio across all five broughs, including industrial and commercial facilities, waterfront properties, cruise terminals, and public markets. Working with a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, planners, and construction professionals, you'll help deliver projects that support the city's infrastructure and economic growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Analytical thinker with a proven ability to troubleshoot and anticipate project challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communicator.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting and cost analysis.
  • NYC residency is required within 180 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with construction management software and scheduling software preferred.
  • Actively pursuing professional registration (PE, RA, AICP, PMP, etc.) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital plans and project budgets across NYCEDC’s asset portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fiscal responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the Asset Management Portfolio Management (AMPM) team to align projects with current policies, market demands, and tenant needs.
  • Partner with the Asset Management Property Operations (PropOps) team to integrate operational and maintenance considerations from project inception through completion.
  • Oversee all development phases, including procurement of architecture, engineering, and construction teams, conducting thorough existing conditions assessments, feasibility studies, budgeting, and securing regulatory approvals.
  • Maintain scope, cost, and schedule controls; ensuring accurate project reporting and documentation throughout the lifecycle.
  • Implement effective record-keeping systems that adhere to NYCEDC policy and support transparency and accountability.
  • Deliver innovative and sustainable design projects that reflect best practices and forward-thinking solutions.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, construction managers, governmental agencies, and community organizations.
  • Manage project quality, timelines, budgets, and deliverables to meet NYCEDC standards.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks using proactive, risk-based management approach.
  • Collaborate across NYCEDC departments on initiatives that extend beyond Asset Management.
  • Keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, tailoring messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
