About The Position

Reporting to the Director, Engineering and Technical Services, the Senior Project Manager, Construction & Engineering is accountable for successful completion of various capital projects while providing technical support, guidance in troubleshooting plant equipment and service issues. This position provides proactive and effective support to improve systems and process needed to increase efficiency, visibility, and issue management.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree; P.Eng designation preferred
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience managing capital projects [includes brown field and green field]
  • Background in managing capital construction [industrial] projects, within a manufacturing environment is a must
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with and managing regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance and timely approvals
  • Excellent negotiating skills, problem solving skills with root cause analysis experience
  • Willing to travel up to 50% based on business need

  • Experience working within the food and beverage industry, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage various capital projects, from concept, execution through commissioning.
  • Provide technical support and guidance in troubleshooting plant equipment, services and building renovation/ construction.
  • Review and approve product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, regulations, requirements, safety standards and industry guidelines.
  • Involved in all new equipment decisions, installations, upgrades, redesigns, physical plant changes or repairs.
  • Schedule projects, resources and monitor project timelines.
  • Provide monthly progress and status reports regarding technical, cost and schedule performance.
  • Create and manage Capital budgets.
  • Represent the Company in dealing with all levels of Government pertaining to permitting and obtaining the necessary approvals.
  • Identifies key CFIA facilities requirements for federally regulated food plants.
  • Preparation and negotiating with vendors and working closely with consultants.
  • Provide in-direct direction and leadership in Maintenance Departments to assess and prioritize process/project opportunities and manages it from beginning through to completion.
  • Ensures all outsource trades people are knowledgeable as it relates to the company's Health and Safety policy.
  • Assisting Plant Managers foster a continuous improvement culture in the manufacturing facilities.
  • Monitor productivity of the group as well as identify root causes of discrepancies for any arising issues.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of internal and external individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize a heavy workload.
  • Is accountable and takes ownership of all tasks and projects that are engaged.
