About The Position

Erdman Anthony is seeking a qualified professional project manager for Civil Engineering projects who is motivated to take on meaningful work and make a real impact on the communities we serve. Our projects include water and sewer systems, parks, site development, and roadway and bridge improvements across Western New York. This role operates with a high level of independence and responsibility, with direct involvement in both project delivery and the continued growth of our civil practice in the region. As a key member of our team, you will lead engineering design and project execution efforts, work closely with clients, agencies, and internal teams, and play an active role in building relationships to expand our presence in the local market. You will be a trusted resource within the firm and have the opportunity to help shape the direction of our work in Western New York.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering
  • 10+ years project management experience
  • Experience leading a team
  • Water / Sewer and Site Civil experience preferred
  • Valid NY driver’s license
  • NY PE or ability to obtain one within six months
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor staff
  • Familiar/experience with NYSDOT specifications and MasterSpec
  • CADD and/or engineering design software experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Complete all client coordination and be responsible for maintaining client satisfaction; Maintain and develop client relations; be accountable to client
  • Oversee the coordination of project deliverables and technical review processes
  • Prepare project proposals including scoping, staffing, and manpower estimates
  • Possess an awareness of Western New York typical civil clients and an ability to market to same
  • Maintain project files in accordance with established document control system
  • Provide Design leadership and coordination with in-house and Consultant Design teams
  • Organize, coordinate, and lead project meetings and prepare minutes
  • Oversee the preparation of meeting presentations and handouts
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities with municipal and agency clients in Western New York
  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients and stakeholders
  • Take responsibility for winning new work and growing the backlog
  • Track upcoming opportunities and position the firm for selection
  • Support growth and development of the Western New York civil practice
  • Work with leadership to identify strategic opportunities and target markets
  • Contribute to establishing Erdman Anthony’s presence and reputation in the Western New York market
  • Monitor financial profitability of Buffalo projects
  • Perform effective project management (monitor scope, schedule, budget, proposals, invoicing)
  • Oversee project-related technical activities
  • Complete engineering design and specifications for a wide range of construction projects
  • Serve as Engineer of Record taking responsibility for the technical accuracy and completeness of the project plans, calculations, reports, and deliverables.
  • Oversee the preparation of engineer’s opinions of costs
  • Coordinate permitting efforts including permit applications and responding to comments.
  • Coordinate client submittal reviews, assembling and submitting the plans, calculations, reports, specifications, and engineer’s opinions of costs, and responding to comments.
  • Review drawings and specifications, addenda, change orders, RFIs, submittals, pay applications, etc. and issue responses.
  • Conduct Progress Meetings and Quality Management Meetings.
  • Be proactive in clarifying direction on project design issues; proceed with a clear understanding of the scope, timing, schedule, and budget
  • Lead, coach and develop team; Mentor junior staff in both technical work and project execution
  • Communicate project goals, recommendations and deadlines to team members
  • Coordinate and review designs and specification completed by technical staff
  • Provide informal feedback on an ongoing basis and formally annually
  • Manage staffing levels and utilization
  • Take increasing responsibility for team growth, staffing, and long-term planning
  • Take ownership of team performance, quality, and delivery
  • Set expectations and hold team members accountable for deliverables
