About The Position

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Senior Project Leader to join their electrical engineering teams. This role involves innovating and developing disruptive new technologies and solutions, focusing on the batteries, motors, and electronics that power their products. The engineering team is responsible for all developmental phases of these critical components in-house, with significant investment in electronic capabilities, firmware engineering, power electronics, embedded systems, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The Senior Project Leader will be empowered to own and drive projects, with the support of a rapidly growing brand in the construction industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years engineering experience in a related field.
  • Experience successfully managing multiple moderate-high complexity projects and/or subsystems of larger projects.
  • Must possess a high level of Mechanical/Electrical engineering aptitude.
  • Must have a working design knowledge of a wide variety of the technologies associated with Milwaukee products.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Project.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate studies preferred in business areas such as Project Management, Finance, Marketing, or Organizational studies.
  • Formal project management training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple moderate to highly complex engineering projects with minimal direction.
  • Provide project management and technical direction for successful and timely project implementation.
  • Provide leadership over moderate to highly complex design projects.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and engineering expertise to team members.
  • Review work of designers, engineers, and other project team members.
  • Ensure completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to ensure all groups are working towards timely project completion.
  • Communicate technical details, ideas, and concepts to engineers and non-engineers in multiple locations.
  • Lead tradeoff discussions and risk management conversations with cross-functional teams.
  • Drive project design to meet market-driven design guides and fulfill cost, timing, reliability, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and select design execution alternatives to best meet specification objectives and implement designs into mass production.
  • Accountable for technical elements of project execution, including integration of components and assemblies, material selection, packaging, and safety, regulatory, and standards compliance.
  • Conduct design and safety reviews to gain necessary approvals for product development phase progressions.
  • Comply with all METCo procedures for new product development and design output, as well as procedures of non-engineering departments related to project flow.
  • Visualize the entire scope of a project with very little guidance.
  • Schedule, develop agendas, facilitate, and document project meetings.
  • Track project schedules to ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Make regular presentations of project status.
  • Occasionally recommend changes to existing standards and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive offerings and the general business climate in the power tool industry.
  • May have formal supervisory responsibilities and oversee day-to-day activities of project team members.
  • Identify project risks and implement risk reduction plans.
  • Interact extensively with global manufacturing plants and outside suppliers to achieve project goals.
  • Support a global team on DFMA initiatives.
