Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Sr. Project Governance Advisor. In this position, you will play a key role in supporting the effective implementation of Trans Mountain’s Stage-Gate Project Delivery Model (PDM) by leading the evolution of fit for purpose project governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and industry standards. This role will deliver training, facilitate governance through project gate reviews and checkpoint milestones, and develop project management standards and documentation. Provides day-to-day advisory support to Sustaining Capital project teams and advises on project management governance, standards, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, business or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting capital project delivery, operations-adjacent projects, and/or Sustaining Capital portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of project governance processes, including Stage-Gate processes, facilitation, compliance, risk assessment and assurance practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment in time-constrained, execution-driven environments.
  • A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in project management, Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the evolution of project governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives, regulatory expectations, and industry standards.
  • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration across Sustaining Capital project teams and Trans Mountain functions to embed governance practices across the portfolio.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for Project Leaders, engineers, coordinators, and team members on governance processes, documentation standards, and scaled stage-gate requirements.
  • Defines, tracks, and reports governance KPIs to assess compliance, effectiveness, and delivery performance.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains project management templates, standards, guidance documents, and toolkits, incorporating lessons learned and ensuring alignment with corporate requirements.
  • Drives continuous improvement by integrating stakeholder feedback, execution lessons learned, and best practices into governance processes and tools to enable consistent, repeatable delivery.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for Sustaining Capital governance, supporting the translation of legacy engineering, maintenance, and execution practices into Trans Mountain’s Stage-Gate Project Delivery Model.
  • Performs as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sustaining capital projects and the translation of existing Engineering documents to the PDM. Contributes as an SME to support senior advisors with the development of engineering, construction, quality and execution standards, ensuring alignment with governance frameworks and Sustaining Capital execution realities.
