About The Position

Gafcon PM-CM LLC is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join their Project and Construction Management Team. This role is responsible for field and project engineering, quality control, contract administration, shop drawing and submittal review, schedule review, and related support functions. The ideal candidate will take on leadership roles within the project team and be involved in strategic planning and managing more complex projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5–8 years of experience in the design, coordination, or management of tenant improvement or commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with airport, aviation, restaurant, food and beverage, retail, hospitality, commercial interiors, or other tenant improvement projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of architectural and construction documents and the design review process.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and project participants.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective, collaborative communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, identify issues, and follow through on resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in an active, occupied, and highly coordinated project environment.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
  • Familiarity with CADD and BIM programs.
  • Valid California driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Ability to provide proof of legal ability to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project management/document control software such as PMWeb or similar platforms is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, design, construction, and closeout of assigned tenant improvement projects.
  • Coordinate design review processes, including stakeholder engagement, review comment tracking, page-turn meetings, comment reconciliation, and resolution of outstanding items.
  • Schedule and facilitate design review and project coordination meetings with project stakeholders, tenant design teams, contractors, and consultants.
  • Review architectural and construction documents and identify potential design coordination issues, interfaces, and conflicts.
  • Coordinate the routing, tracking, and administrative processing of tenant design deliverables, design changes, submittals, RFIs, permit documentation, and closeout materials.
  • Review project documentation for compliance with applicable project requirements, design standards, and established guidelines.
  • Assist project managers with tracking project budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and overall project progress.
  • Maintain project tracking logs and monitor timely responses and deliverables from project participants.
  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance stakeholders to identify design considerations that may affect facility operations, maintainability, utilities, or access.
  • Support tenant permitting activities and monitor the status of authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) submissions, reviews, and comment resolution.
  • Participate in pre-construction, safety, construction progress, and coordination meetings.
  • Coordinate with construction management and field personnel to monitor design and construction progress against established project requirements.
  • Review and monitor RFIs, submittals, field changes, and other construction-related documentation to ensure timely resolution.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, presentations, meeting notes, action-item logs, correspondence, and project status documentation.
  • Lead meetings and coordinate follow-up activities for assigned tasks and deliverables.
  • Assist with preparation of project information and reports for management and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with tenant representatives and other project stakeholders regarding project requirements, schedules, deliverables, and outstanding information.
  • Support project closeout activities, including collection and review of required documentation and outstanding project deliverables.
  • Maintain organized project records, including correspondence, meeting materials, design review comments, permit documentation, submittals, RFIs, change documentation, and closeout records.
  • Perform other project coordination and management support duties as assigned.
