About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Self-Perform Commercial Drywall Division. This role provides broad exposure to all facets of commercial construction and offers significant opportunity to improve and evolve our current operations and best practices. In this position, you will play a critical role in supporting the project team with core project management functions, including timely procurement and material tracking, change order pricing and negotiation, quality management, quantity take-offs, and reporting to an Assistant Project Manager or above.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of construction experience
  • Proficiency in project management software and MS Office
  • Knowledge of Lean processes and self-performed labor productivity
  • Thorough understanding of project documents and local building codes
  • Fundamental understanding of Plans and Specifications.
  • Ability to adhere to consistent and timely attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Excel, Procore, Bluebeam, CMiC, or comparable construction technologies is a plus
  • A self-starter with the willingness to learn and be mentored under talented Project Management and Field Supervision staff, while also having the ability to proactively identify and solve problems and interact collaboratively and professionally with the project team, subcontractors, vendors, and owners.
  • Uncompromising authenticity and integrity, effective time-management skills, a thorough understanding of building construction, and a passion for getting things done.
  • An individual with an interest in the integrated project delivery method and an interest in being innovative in process improvement and technology will be an ideal candidate for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides training and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Builds relationships with tradespeople, foremen, superintendents, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate, maintain, and thoroughly understand construction drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Assemble monthly reports, the Zero Accident plan, and the Quality Assurance plan
  • Develop and maintain Submittits, Drawings, Specifications, and RFI logs.
  • Assist the project team in updating and maintaining the construction schedule and providing weekly schedule updates.
  • Assist in the coordination and sequencing of utility line locates.
  • Participate in executing the Lean Principles throughout the project lifecycle (daily huddles, pull-planning, etc.)
  • Directly involved with the project closeout process, delivery of the required documents, and project completion report.
  • Organize and submit necessary documentation and submittals for Green Building or LEED certification.
  • Actively discovering and addressing Contract Documents discrepancies and constructability issues
  • Daily field walks to address safety, quality control, and develop a thorough understanding of multiple trades.
  • Effectively supervise and mentor entry-level Project Engineers and Interns
