About The Position

Ramboll's Data Center Facilities team provides data center strategy, planning, design, integration, commissioning, and testing services for enterprise, institutional, web-scale, service-provider, and colocation clients. The Senior Project Engineer leads commissioning for large-scale facility and data center projects, ensuring systems meet project requirements and are tested safely, accurately, and on schedule. The role supports project management, coordinates commissioning resources and schedules, and works closely with clients, contractors, vendors, testing technicians, and internal engineering teams. The candidate may be based anywhere in the Continental United States and must travel to client sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military or industrial training.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years of direct data center commissioning experience.
• Previous data center and/or mission-critical facility experience.
• Experience commissioning and/or maintaining electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience working with general contractors and communicating project requirements and expectations effectively.
• Knowledge of major regulations, industry codes and standards, construction materials, means, and methods.
• Data center commissioning experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, direction, documentation, and on-site testing of commissioning activities for mechanical and/or electrical systems on large-scale facility and data center projects.
• Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and commissioning plans for compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
• Develop, coordinate, and execute commissioning procedures, functional performance tests, factory witness tests, and site-specific commissioning plans for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fuel oil, and BMS controls systems.
• Manage commissioning logs, equipment checklists, test documentation, deficiency reports, progress reports, meeting minutes, and final commissioning reports.
• Lead commissioning meetings and collaborate with clients, contractors, vendors, testing technicians, and internal engineering teams to execute projects and resolve commissioning issues.
• Support project management by coordinating resources, maintaining schedules, providing client service, and ensuring commissioning activities are completed safely, accurately, and on time.
