This position reports to: Senior Engineering Manager Your role and responsibilities Senior Automation Engineer with expertise in industrial automation, control systems, OT networking, and cybersecurity. The ideal candidate will lead the design, implementation, commissioning, and support of PLC/HMI-based solutions, industrial networks, and secure control system architectures while ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards. The work model for the role is: #LI-hybrid This role is contributing to the Electrification Solutions-Digital Solutions in North America.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in SCADA system design, integration, and industrial automation.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Understanding of power systems with protection, controls, and automation applications preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with cloud-based monitoring, IIoT, or edge automation solutions preferred.
Responsibilities
- PLC programming and automation development (ABB, Emerson, Allen-Bradley, Schneider).
- HMI design, control logic, alarming, trending, and system integration.
- Industrial communication protocols: Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC, DNP3, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET.
- Control system architecture design including PLCs, HMIs, relays, controllers, and communication processors.
- Industrial networking expertise: Layer 2/3, VLANs, routing, switching, IP addressing, and redundancy (RSTP, PRP, HSR).
- Hands-on testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and network diagnostics (Wireshark, packet capture).
- OT cybersecurity and secure remote access solutions (VPNs, firewalls, IEC 62443 compliance).
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and hardware platforms (UL, IEEE, IEC; Cisco, Hirschmann, Moxa, Siemens).
