About The Position

RK&K’s Colorado Design group is growing! We are hiring a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our team in our Lakewood, Colorado office. As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will utilize and advance your skills in Green Infrastructure, Stormwater Management, Erosion and Sediment Control, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Watershed Studies, and Environmental Restoration and Stabilization. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to lead, manage, and deliver complex projects across RK&K’s footprint, assist in the advancement into an identified growth market, and grow into a Discipline Team leadership position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Civil Water Resources or Transportation Engineering
  • Experience with CDOT, MHFD, and/or local Colorado county/municipality projects
  • Colorado PE license
  • Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and GIS
  • Familiarity with SWMM, HEC-RAS, HY-8, TR-55, TR-20, or other related software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Open Roads Designer
  • Experience also in Texas (TxDOT and/or other county/municipalities)

Responsibilities

  • Operate as a subject matter expert in water resources design and analysis
  • Develop, evaluate, and design stormwater management facilities to support public works infrastructure projects across RK&K’s vast portfolio
  • Perform stormwater and drainage system analysis and modeling
  • Floodplain analysis, bridge hydraulics, and scour countermeasure design
  • Proactively deliver a wide range of water resource projects including storm water systems, drainage design, flood studies, watershed plans, erosion/sediment control, scour analysis and other related project.
  • Provide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timeliness
  • Meet and work directly with clients and other design team members including project manager, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients.
  • Provide office and site visit support for projects in construction
  • Prepare permit applications for oversight agencies to address the full range of environmental issues and conditions associated with water resources projects
  • Develop project scope, schedule and budgets, lead projects, and manage subcontractors
  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, design reports, technical memoranda, and miscellaneous contract documents
  • Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges
