Position Overview Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, NA to join the Design Engineering team, supporting the delivery of high‑performance, mission‑critical data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for leading the full design lifecycle across new developments and existing facilities, ensuring technical excellence, consistency, and alignment with business, customer, and operational requirements. The Design Manager serves as a central technical point of contact throughout the project lifecycle, coordinating cross‑functional stakeholders including Sales, Solutions Engineering, EH&S, New Site Development, Construction, Sustainability, Automation & Controls, Security, IT, and Operations. This role also leads regional change management efforts, drives continuous improvement through lessons learned, and ensures design decisions balance capital efficiency, operational performance, and long‑term sustainability. Position is On-Site in Port Washington, WI

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Planning, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience, including military service or exceptional training, may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in data center design management or equivalent technical leadership roles; 5+ years preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in data center design and familiarity with North American construction markets preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of critical power and cooling infrastructure systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes, fire ordinances, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation standards.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Travel is expected to be approximately 15–30% and may increase as business needs evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership and Project Oversight: Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of design packages, standards, and technical specifications to ensure system reliability and consistency.
  • Own early design baseline development and ensure alignment with lease agreements, customer requirements, and internal standards.
  • Guide internal and external design teams, fostering collaboration aligned with project objectives, sustainability targets, and delivery schedules.
  • Attend assigned project sites regularly to monitor design execution and track RFIs, deviations, and change requests.
  • Client Engagement and Communication: Serve as the technical lead for client and internal stakeholder engagements, including leading technical meetings and design reviews.
  • Provide regular, detailed updates on design progress, risks, blockers, and priorities to internal leadership and external partners.
  • Procurement and Vendor Coordination: Support procurement and project leadership in the selection and management of regional design partners and contractors.
  • Oversee contract execution and Value Engineering (VE) initiatives in collaboration with the General Contractor and Engineer of Record.
  • Quality, Risk, and Change Management: Drive continuous improvement by developing and refining design, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Anticipate, assess, and mitigate risks related to design quality and engineering execution.
  • Lead benchmarking initiatives to ensure regional alignment and best‑practice adoption.
  • Lead on‑site support for Change Management / REACH processes across engineering disciplines, ensuring effective implementation and reporting.
  • Team Development and Knowledge Sharing: Conduct regular design team meetings to provide feedback, alignment, and issue resolution.
  • Facilitate Lessons Learned sessions and ensure insights are captured and implemented across projects and regions.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Additional Duties: Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.
