About The Position

Ethos Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Mechanical Design Engineer with over 10 years of experience to lead the design of mechanical building services for data centre projects. This role involves overseeing projects across the EMEA region, managing the entire project lifecycle from concept to client handover. The engineer will be responsible for project delivery, building and maintaining client relationships, and mentoring engineering staff to ensure all deliverables meet quality assurance standards. A key aspect of this role is managing multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring the team stays on track with deliverables.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of mechanical design experience.
  • Hold a professional qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills, representing Ethos as the design team in client meetings.
  • Ability to lead projects and take briefs from the project lead on large projects, delivering and controlling the required tasks.
  • Candidate needs to balance multiple tasks, prioritise, and delegate as appropriate to meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent report writing skills and the ability to explain complex engineering issues in simple and clear language.
  • Good understanding of HVAC and building controls.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the design of plumbing and drainage systems is preferred.

  • Report progress to the Group Management Team to ensure transparency and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Manage quality control within projects to ensure deliverables meet established standards.
  • Engage in resource management to optimise resource allocation and project execution.
  • Promote a positive message internally and externally to enhance team morale and the company’s reputation.
  • Lead the design of mechanical building services for projects in the data centre sector.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle from initial concept to client handover.
  • Mentor and guide engineering staff, ensuring all team deliverables meet quality assurance standards.
  • Manage multiple projects and ensure team members stay on track with deliverables.
  • Represent Ethos as the design team in client meetings.
  • Take briefs from the project lead on large projects, delivering and controlling the required tasks.
  • Balance multiple tasks, prioritise, and delegate as appropriate to meet project deadlines.
  • Train and mentor junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Support the development of the right candidate to progress into a lead role within the Data Centre team.
