The Senior Project Engineer contributes to the successful design, fabrication, and installation of architectural and structural building systems. Working as part of an integrated team within a specific business unit, applies engineering, project management, problem solving, and communication skills across all levels and disciplines within the organization. The Senior Project Engineer candidate includes demonstrated performance in ownership/drive in resolving issues, has the confidence in communication/articulation to take on additional or highly complex scopes of Work/key trades work categories, and includes an increased range of competency and leadership in contracting, safety, cost control, planning/scheduling, as well as supervision of staff. Compensation Range: $95,000 - $120,000 depending on experience Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions. Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with staff, projects and proprietary information. Advanced activities pertaining to the Design Phase, including, but not limited to, submittal drawings, design approvals, reinforcement drawings, miscellaneous metal drawings. Oversee the manufacture-related activities pertaining to the Production Phase, including, but not limited to providing complete shop drawings, ensuring purchase of all required materials, maintaining a casting schedule and performing quality checks. Oversee in the field-related activities pertaining to the Erection Phase, including, but not limited to preparing crane studies, rigging diagrams, coordinating shipping and field manpower requirements while ensuring erection quality and performance to plan and budget. Project management/document control tactics including, but not limited to issue identification and resolution, coordinating requested procedure submittals, escalating issues as necessary, and monitoring contract specifications, budget, and time commitments. Other duties as assigned. Mastery of all aspects of the Project Engineer position, with a proven ability to lead the work of multiple Project Engineers on multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to provide training to multiple Project Engineers. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as effective listening and engagement with all levels of the organization. Ability to build strong relationships and engage and motivate teams representing diverse backgrounds and viewpoints; exceptionally collaborative. Ability to maintain attentiveness to detail and accuracy throughout involvement in multiple projects without losing sight of goals and deadlines. Excellent organization skills to drive topics with multiple stakeholders/interests. Problem solving skills that aim to remedy and prevent reoccurrence. Comfortable escalating issues while maintaining positive relationships with team members and other organizations. Strong proven ability to read plans, specifications, and blueprints. Advanced mathematical skills. Ability to visualize in 3D. CAD proficiency and ability to quickly draw engineering sketches. Able to exercise appropriate discretion when handling confidential and/or sensitive information. Display willingness and interest in stepping up into larger role if the situation requires or the opportunity presents itself. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite programs. Work Environment General office environment will be experienced. There will be periodic exposure to manufacturing environments which may present hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery. There will be periodic exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat, wet and/or humid environments. Physical Demands Frequent: Sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones, standing and walking. Periodic: Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements Occasional: Business travel (Up to 25%). Bending squatting, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
