About The Position

The Senior Project Designer is responsible for creating project designs and plans for all phases of projects, coordinating building design consultants, and monitoring drawings. This role involves developing solutions, preparing presentation and design drawings, and managing the full development of design details. The Senior Project Designer will work with the documentation team to develop Construction Documents and support construction phase activities. They will serve as the Design Lead on selected projects, demonstrating proficiency in all conventional aspects of architectural practice, including planning, development, evaluation, selection of materials and systems, and the use of advanced techniques. This role requires creative problem-solving, providing design guidance to the project team on complex projects, and working independently on complex architectural design projects while coordinating design efforts between multiple projects. Direct and maintain frequent communication with the Design team to ensure proper information flow and assist in keeping the team apprised of any changes or client activity that would impact project design. Develop and adhere to project design schedules, deadlines, and budgets. Plan, coordinate, and attend meetings with clients and the project team as necessary.

Requirements

Ten or more years of experience, licensure preferred but not required, professional degree in architecture from an accredited program.
Typically has 10 or more years of experience in all phases of architecture and engineering, including substantial and varied experience in project planning.
Demonstrated experience in all conventional aspects of the practice of Architecture.
Possesses thorough knowledge of architectural principles and practices in planning, development, evaluation, selection of materials and systems, and use of advanced techniques.
Demonstrated proficiency in evaluation, selection, and use of standard techniques.
Professional Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture
Licensed Architect preferred
Revit, AutoCAD current versions
Sketch-up, Rhino, or other modeling software
MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, MS Project
10+ years’ experience in related position

Develops planning and creative design concepts for all aspects of a project (site and building), independently and in collaboration with Project Leadership.
Prepares presentation materials, drawings, models for client meetings.
Researches and interprets applicable local, federal and state accessibility, building and fire codes, and accurately applies these requirements in design process.
Directs and coordinates all aspects of project design from concept through construction administration with other members of project team.
Develops required details to effectively and clearly convey design intent.
Understands how to navigate through local zoning and approvals processes and assists PM in all necessary work for adherence.
Researches materials and incorporates accurate information into drawings and project cut book and coordinates with specifications group.
When assuming the role of Lead Designer on projects, adhere to requirements of the role as listed in Project Leadership Document.
Plans and participates in the preparation of proposal/interview materials to secure new business opportunities.
Supports new business development opportunities by providing experienced design knowledge.
Assume special projects and duties as assigned or requested.
