About The Position

ONEX River is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Project Controller to support our growing Project Controls team. Based in our fabrication facility, this position is responsible for project cost control, forecasting, budgeting, client invoicing, reporting, and financial analysis throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Accounting, and Operations to ensure accurate project tracking, timely reporting, and effective cost management while supporting the successful execution of fabrication and construction projects.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 12+ years of proven experience as accountant, project controls or project coordinator within an industrial construction environment.
  • Proficiency with various software such as; Sage, ADP, SharePoint, MS Office, Adobe, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone and/or via email.

  • Preferred knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Create and submit daily Labour, Equipment and Material (LEM) reports for Project Manager review.
  • Review, file, and track third-party LEMs and supporting documentation for project costing purposes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project cost control procedures, coding structures, and reporting methods.
  • Collaborate with the Project Controls team to ensure consistency and accuracy in project reporting.
  • Import project estimates and budgets into project management software and maintain ongoing cost tracking.
  • Monitor project costs, identify variances, and support project closeout activities.
  • Analyze cost trends and provide recommendations to improve project performance.
  • Identify, evaluate, and communicate financial risks and opportunities to Project Managers.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Generate client invoices for Project Manager approval and coordinate with Accounts Receivable regarding billing and collections.
  • Assist Project Managers with client-specific reporting requirements, cost analysis, and forecasting.
  • Support monthly project reviews, budget updates, and financial reporting processes.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with company standards.
