About The Position

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The GMC Architecture Community is growing and has an opening for a Senior Project Manager/Project Architect for justice architectural projects in Montgomery, AL. This role is responsible for the technical execution and delivery of exceptional projects. The GMC Architecture Practice is a community of knowledgeable planning and design professionals that operate with a collaborative, client-focused approach. By bringing together diverse expertise across multiple offices, they build teams to best support each individual project and client, from system-wide master planning to medical equipment replacements and working in complex acute care environments to the evolving outpatient setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture from an accredited architectural program
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Registered Architect or completed NCARB Program
  • Proficient in Revit
  • Must be able to listen and communicate effectively
  • Must be a self-starter, team player and able to establish good working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, team members, and other employees
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs
  • Ability to use good judgment and make timely decisions

Responsibilities

  • Lead project team working within the GMC Architecture Community framework respecting team structure, project roles and responsibilities, and utilization of production tools and standards.
  • Be a member of a multi-office architecture practice sharing, contributing, and learning best practices for delivering exceptional projects that include local government/civic, academic and healthcare.
  • Apply broad general knowledge of architectural principles and practices.
  • Function effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
  • Understand the entire project process-development/scoping, design, and construction.
  • Design and detail a complete project, system component or process.
  • Prepare complete project documents including the Project Manual/Specifications.
  • Understand economic and decision analysis principles in area including financial, regulatory, and environmental issues.
  • Assign tasks to and direct architects, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the architectural work.
  • Prepare scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments.
  • Independently perform most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.
  • Interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of architectural assignment.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and continuous improvement with decision-making time management and delegation.
