About The Position

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is seeking a Senior Project Manager/Project Architect for justice architectural projects in Montgomery, AL. This role is responsible for the technical execution and delivery of exceptional projects within the GMC Architecture Community framework. The ideal candidate will be a member of a multi-office practice, contributing and learning best practices for delivering exceptional projects across various sectors including local government/civic, academic, and healthcare. The role requires broad general knowledge of architectural principles and practices, the ability to function effectively within multi-disciplinary teams, and manage multiple projects or portions of major projects. Understanding of the entire project process from development/scoping, design, to construction is essential. The Senior Project Manager/Project Architect will also prepare complete project documents, including the Project Manual/Specifications, and understand economic and decision analysis principles, including financial, regulatory, and environmental issues. Proficiency in Revit Architecture and complementary design tools is required. This role involves assigning tasks, directing staff, planning and coordinating architectural work, preparing scopes, budgets, and schedules, and independently performing assignments with general instructions. Interaction with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others is expected, as is attending project meetings and presenting specific aspects of architectural assignments. Demonstrating leadership skills, decision-making, time management, and delegation are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture from an accredited architectural program
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Registered Architect or completed NCARB Program
  • Proficient in Revit
  • Must be able to listen and communicate effectively
  • Must be a self-starter, team player and able to establish good working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, team members, and other employees
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs
  • Ability to use good judgment and make timely decisions

Responsibilities

  • Leads project team working within the GMC Architecture Community framework respecting team structure, project roles and responsibilities, and utilization of production tools and standards.
  • Member of multi-office architecture practice sharing, contributing, and learning best practices for delivering exceptional projects that include local government/civic, academic and healthcare.
  • Ability to function effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
  • Understanding of the entire project process-development/scoping, design, and construction.
  • Ability to design and detail a complete project, system component or process.
  • Prepares complete project documents including the Project Manual/Specifications
  • Understands economic and decision analysis principles in area including financial, regulatory, and environmental issues.
  • Assigns tasks to and directs architects, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the architectural work.
