About The Position

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for the coordination and management of major Police Department technology initiatives. The Police Department’s Office Data, Analytics and Technology (ODAT) provides direction and guidance to this position. This role involves managing projects from initiation through closure, assisting project teams with technical and project processes, and developing, clarifying, and managing project scope to achieve targeted outcomes. The position ensures project requirements are met on time and within budget, assembles project teams, identifies resources, assigns responsibilities, and develops timelines. It also involves determining project costs, ensuring compatibility with existing standards, performing cost-benefit analyses, scheduling meetings, documenting minutes, and preparing status reports and dashboards for management. Additionally, the role provides support, coaching, and mentoring on project management best practices to project coordinator associates and business analysts.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university with a major course work in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years Project Management experience managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects
  • 5+ years of applicable business experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from Initiation through Closure.
  • Assist project teams navigating technical and project processes.
  • Develop, clarify, and manage the scope of the project, define contract deliverables and achieve targeted outcomes.
  • Ensure project requirements are achieved in a timely fashion and within budget guidelines.
  • Assemble project team, identify needed resources, assign responsibilities, and develop timeframes to facilitate successful completion of project activities and deliverables.
  • Determine project costs/ensures delivery on time and within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure compatibility and consistency with existing architectural and enterprise standards.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis of actions and initiatives.
  • Schedule and document meeting minutes.
  • Prepare status reports, status summaries and dashboards for presentation to mid and senior level management.
  • Provide support, coaching and mentoring on project management best practices, as requested for project coordinator associates and business analysts.
