About The Position

Role and Scope of Position: The Senior Program Manager, Learning & Development (L&D) provides strategic direction, design oversight, and program management for enterprise-wide learning and development initiatives that align with Eversource’s business priorities. This role works independently to lead complex programs from conception through execution, ensuring that L&D solutions are scalable, data-informed, and technology-enabled to drive measurable business impact. Responsibilities include managing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of leadership, professional, and organizational development learning programs and initiatives. The position requires collaboration with HR leadership, HR business partners, instructional designers, Learning & Development consultants, senior business leaders, and external vendors to ensure programs address strategic talent needs, enhance organizational capability, and strengthen Eversource’s culture of continuous learning. The role also leverages advanced learning technologies, analytics and AI-driven insights to innovate and continuously improve the employee learning experience. HYBRID WORK POLICY Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

Requirements

  • Technical Knowledge/Skill: Expert knowledge of learning strategy, learning program design and delivery, organizational and talent development best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and programs across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect learning strategies to business outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven expertise in LMS systems, including LMS implementation and optimization initiatives, administration and analytics to drive engagement and performance outcomes.
  • Strong Power BI skills to build dashboards, analyze learning data, and generate actionable insights for HR and business leaders.
  • Deep understanding of virtual collaboration and communication tools (e.g. Microsoft Teams, SharePoint) with the ability to design and deliver hybrid learning solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, integrate, and manage emerging learning technologies, including AI-driven and adaptive platforms, that improve scalability, automation, and learner experience.
  • Drive personal and team operational efficiency through the strategic use of AI-enabled tools and processes.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Learning and Development, Organizational Psychology, Education, related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in learning and development, organizational development, talent management or related field, with demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale enterprise learning initiatives.
  • Proven track record of designing, implementing and evaluating learning strategies that build leadership capability, drive performance, and support organizational transformation.
  • Experience managing vendor partnerships and leveraging learning technologies, analytics, and evaluation methodologies to measure and enhance program effectiveness.
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Learning and Performance, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related discipline highly preferred.
  • Professional certification in Learning & Development, Talent Management, Organizational Development or related discipline preferred.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP, CPLP, PMP or similar credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Program Leadership: Develops and manages a portfolio of enterprise L&D programs and initiatives aligned with Eversource’s talent and business strategies. Establishes program goals, metrics, and success criteria; ensures alignment with organizational priorities and regulatory requirements where applicable. Leads cross-functional teams in program design, delivery, and continuous improvement.
  • Program Design and Execution: Designs and oversees the development and delivery of learning solutions, including leadership, professional, and organizational development initiatives. Applies adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to ensure engaging, high-impact learning experiences. Identifies and integrates innovative learning technologies and digital platforms to enhance learning effectiveness and scalability.
  • Measurement and Continuous Improvement: Tracks, analyzes, and reports on program participation, effectiveness, and ROI using data-driven methods and learning analytics tools to measure impact. Uses evaluation insights to recommend enhancements, streamline delivery, and improve learner experience.
  • Stakeholder and Vendor Management: Partners with senior leaders and HR Business Partners to identify capability gaps and recommend strategic learning solutions. Manages external vendors and consultants to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with Eversource standards. Represents the L&D function in enterprise initiatives and cross-functional projects.
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensures that learning programs comply with internal policies and external compliance and regulatory requirements. Maintains documentation, timelines, and budgets for major learning initiatives.
