About The Position

This role involves providing expert direction and planning for complex programs within Engineering, managing the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to company policies, and interacting with internal stakeholders. The Senior Program Manager will coordinate studies, schedule resources, monitor project costs, and ensure customer expectations are met within regulatory time limits and budgets. This position may also lead cross-functional teams on regulatory and legislative issues. The role requires developing strategic and tactical plans for operational readiness and compliance with energy legislation and regulations. It involves overseeing complex projects from application to closeout, influencing changes in philosophy, design, or business practices, and analyzing/reporting on department goals and metrics. The position also includes tracking and analyzing engineering estimates and project costs, providing technical direction and guidance, and offering regulatory and legislative support, including testimony.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of directly related experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of electric power system operations, utility regulation, applicable governmental and regulatory laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of business financial principles.
  • Ability to provide direction to a cross-process team and technical solutions on a variety of concurrent projects that may include complex, controversial, and unique issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Business, or Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate studies, schedule resources, and monitor project costs.
  • Meet or exceed customer expectations for successful project implementation within mandated regulatory time limits and budgets.
  • Lead cross-functional and company teams on current and developing regulatory and legislative issues.
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans for the group to ensure operational readiness and compliance with state and federal energy legislation and regulations.
  • Oversee the department’s most complex projects through their complete life-cycle, from application to final project test and closeout.
  • Influence changes in philosophy, design approach, or business practices with regards to programs.
  • Analyze, track, and report on department goals, SLAs, and other metrics.
  • Analyze data and develop reports and innovative solutions regarding projects.
  • Track and analyze engineering estimates and project costs to improve forecasting.
  • Provide direction and guidance to employees working on various programs; serve as program technical leader.
  • Provide regulatory and legislative support, including answering interrogatories and witness testimony as required.
  • Be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
  • Be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
