About The Position

The Workforce Intelligence Lab (WIL) is seeking a Senior Program Evaluator in criminal justice to serve as principal investigator on proposals for process, outcome, and impact evaluations of justice programs. The work may include research on drones as first responders, gangs and organized crime, and elder abuse and neglect. Responsibilities include leading data collection with justice agencies using administrative records and fieldwork; overseeing analysis, human-subjects protections, and data security; and writing research narratives, methods, and dissemination plans. The collaborator may contribute qualifications and past-performance information to WIL proposals only with authorization to be named. This is a contingent proposal opportunity within WIL's expert collaborator network, not a funded vacancy. WIL is preparing a competitive grant application; no award has been made, and work or funding is not guaranteed. If an award proceeds and the staffing model calls for it, WIL may offer a project-based contract or consulting engagement. The work is described as remote in the United States.

Requirements

  • Track record leading criminal justice research or program evaluations.
  • Peer-reviewed publications or major evaluation reports in criminology or justice policy.
  • Experience with justice agency data and human-subjects (IRB) processes.
  • Strong quantitative and/or mixed-methods skills.
  • Comfortable working as a project-based contract collaborator.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD preferred in criminology, criminal justice, sociology, or a related field.
  • Prior federal justice research award as PI or co-PI.
  • Randomized or quasi-experimental evaluation experience.
  • Research experience on policing technology (e.g., drones), gangs and organized crime, or elder abuse and neglect.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as principal investigator on criminal justice research and evaluation proposals.
  • Design rigorous process, outcome, and impact evaluations of justice programs.
  • Lead studies in priority areas such as drone-as-first-responder programs, gang and organized-crime interventions, and elder abuse and neglect.
  • Lead data collection with justice agencies, including administrative records and fieldwork.
  • Oversee analysis, human-subjects protections, and data security.
  • Write research narratives, methods, and dissemination plans.
  • Contribute qualifications and past-performance narrative to WIL proposals when authorized to be named.
