About The Position

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Senior Program Evaluation Associate for its Research & Evaluation Department. This role supports HCZ's mission to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty through comprehensive programming. The Research and Evaluation team uses data-driven decision-making to provide insights into program effectiveness and strategic direction. The Associate will be integral in implementing and maintaining program evaluation systems for efficient data collection and dissemination, managing schedules and templates for program progress tracking, and compiling program data to highlight impact and innovation opportunities.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health or Public Policy, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Statistics, or Data Science); Ph.D. preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in program implementation and evaluation or academic research settings strongly preferred
  • Experience with Excel, social sciences software (SPSS, Stata, or R), and online survey platforms (SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics)
  • Outstanding analytical ability and comprehensive statistical knowledge
  • Strong end-to-end project management skills with advanced attention to detail
  • Ability to lead projects with minimal supervision while producing high-quality deliverables on time
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues across the organization with varying degrees of experience.
  • Ability to infer actionable insights from original and secondary research
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage competing priorities effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Substantial content knowledge in the areas of public health, poverty alleviation, law and public policy, childhood development, K-12 education, college access and success, community development, or health equity/health disparities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • Experience with community building, youth development, or related work preferred
  • Prior experience with youth and adults of diverse cultural backgrounds

Responsibilities

  • Partner with department leaders and program teams to execute evaluation plans and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across all systems and programs.
  • Conduct basic and advanced analyses to generate actionable insights for program planning and decision-making.
  • Develop and refine outcome measures, indicators, and evaluation tools that capture program impact.
  • Support the design, documentation, and optimization of data collection and reporting processes across departments.
  • Prepare clear, data-driven reports, dashboards, and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate evaluation practices into daily operations and strategic planning.
  • Provide ongoing data and evaluation support to program leaders to strengthen evidence-based decision-making.
  • Stay current on emerging research methodologies, evaluation techniques, and data systems relevant to education and social impact.
