About The Position

Under supervision, plans, coordinates and oversees special city-wide programs and events bringing programming resources to the parks. Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field supplemented by three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
  • Knowledge of education and curriculum design principles.
  • Ability to understand and implement elements of community-based programming.
  • Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Organization and planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Resolves and troubleshoots programs and program issues as they arise.
  • Provides on-site program support for Special Recreation staff across the city.
  • Determines professional development needs of Special Recreation staff.
  • Plans and implements trainings for Special Recreation staff based on need and projected areas for growth.
  • Works with Park District units and outside agencies to create support and trainings for Special Recreation staff.
  • Assists with coordinating program coverage and supports scheduling needs for assigned Special Recreation staff.
  • Gathers and disseminates information and prepares written documents and reports and executes projects.
  • Supports the work of other units to ensure they are successfully serving patrons with disabilities.
  • Coordinates with Special Recreation staff to support assigned programs, trainings, and events.
