About The Position

Onex is seeking to hire an individual within the Corporate Strategy & Finance team to help lead and drive strategic initiatives across the firm. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will work across finance, strategy, and operations, collaborating closely with teams across Onex to drive growth and efficiencies. This role is well suited to a highly analytical, commercially minded and execution-orientated professional who is comfortable independently managing complex workstreams and delivering high quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment. The role may be based in either Toronto or New York. Corporate title will be commensurate with experience.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in consulting, corporate development, investment banking, corporate finance, or a related field.
  • Brings strong knowledge of capital markets, corporate finance, and investment strategies commonly employed by alternative asset managers.
  • Proven financial modeling, valuation and analytical skills, combined with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data to support strategic decision making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing materials for senior executives and boards.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity and sound judgment.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, complex, global environment with multiple priorities.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently drive initiatives from concept through execution.

  • Exposure to operating model enhancement, technology implementation or innovation initiatives is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial analysis, valuation work and strategic assessments to inform executive decision-making.
  • Drive enterprise-wide project management efforts, overseeing cross-functional initiatives from strategy development through implementation.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking, market analysis, and strategic assessments to inform strategy and proactively identify risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies (including AI) to shape forward-looking strategic recommendations.
  • Streamline and enhance existing processes by reducing manual work and leveraging technology solutions.
  • Drive cost optimization and operating model enhancements while maintaining high service standards and alignment with sustainability goals.
  • Support cross-functional projects to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Provide strategic support on select partnership and transaction initiatives aligned with firm priorities, including support for corporate development efforts (M&A).
  • Support corporate real estate strategy and associated projects aligned with firm culture and future-of-work objectives as required.
  • Develop and prepare materials for Board meetings and executive leadership as required.

  • Compensation for Toronto-based hires will be determined separately in CAD based on the local market factors and candidate skills/experience.
