About The Position

Under the direction of the department leadership, executes quality control testing strategies on Versiti's blood supply to ensure regulatory requirements are met and manufactures platelet products according to operational standards. Enhances existing procedures and services with quality that exceeds customer expectations. Demonstrates the ability to take initiative, drive productivity, and build a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret Standard Operating Procedures, maintenance instructions, and other department manuals required

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Biology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related chemical, physical, or biological science is a plus
  • Related laboratory, production, or relevant industry experience is a plus
  • 1+ year of related work experience is a plus; healthcare experience is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Checking in blood products and performing visual inspections
  • Importing/Exporting blood products
  • Packing and shipping blood products to our local hospitals
  • Packing and shipping recovered plasma
  • Communicating with hospitals regarding recalls, delays, order fulfillment, or substitutions
  • Monitoring our room and storage devices for temperature and motion acceptability
  • Dispatching orders and arranging for delivery by a transportation driver, Volunteer, hospital services cross-trained team member, courier, or state patrol
  • Conducts validation procedures to qualify new production processes
  • Assists in annual revisions of procedures
  • Supports trainers by coordinating and maintaining staff training and competencies
  • Maintains competencies in required tasks in Hospital Services
  • Delegates, monitors and motivates team members
  • Works in partnership with Leads and Supervisor to improve communication between management and employees
  • LAX/MARSH - rotates between hospital delivery responsibilities and Pharmacy duties, including inventory, order picking/ packing, returns and sample pick-ups
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and provies training and cross-training to team members
  • Provides excellent customer service to hospital partners and internal customers
  • Demonstrates leadership by providing guidance and support to team members and helping drive effective day-to-day operations
  • Participates in rotational on-call coverage, with assigned rotations inlcuding weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
