VayLas Vegas, NV

About The Position

We’re rewriting the rules of urban mobility. At Vay, customers tap a button and a car arrives - with no one inside - powered by our world-first Remote Driving technology on real public roads. We’re live in Las Vegas and scaling fast, powered by a strategic investment of up to $410 million from Grab. Our mission is simple: replace private car ownership with a faster, cleaner, door-to-door mobility model. If you want to build something real, visible, and genuinely transformative, you’ll feel right at home here. First to roll out vehicles in both Europe and the USA on public roads without a human being inside & currently the 2nd largest commercial, driverless car fleet in the Western World. We've partnered with Kodiak to bring remote-driving technology to autonomous trucks in the US, showcasing our ability to integrate our system into heavy-duty commercial vehicles and expand the applications of our tech across the US. We’ve completed 10’s of thousands of trips so far and are busy multiplying our Las Vegas fleet just to meet demand! ...And soon we’ll be expanding across the US & Europe 🚀

  • 2+ years of direct experience managing technical teams (technicians, engineers, test operators) in a production or workshop environment
  • Strong hands-on technical background in vehicle systems: electrical/electronic architectures, mechatronics, diagnostics, and software-hardware integration
  • Demonstrated experience running structured bring-up, integration, or end-of-line testing processes
  • Proficiency with defect tracking, build documentation, and production management tools (Jira, ERP/MES systems, or equivalent)
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, advanced mobility, or EV platforms is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end bring-up execution for vehicles and remote driving stations: inbound logistics and inventory, hardware integration, diagnostics, software bring-up, end-of-line (EOL) testing, and release to fleet
  • Manage daily and weekly warehouse and production schedules, ensuring bring-up targets are met with predictable, consistent throughput
  • Track and report bring-up KPIs (vehicles per day, cycle time, first-pass yield, release rate) and drive corrective action when targets are missed
  • Ensure every vehicle released meets Vay's quality, safety, and regulatory requirements before deployment
  • Act as the single POC for managing external partners involved in the bring-up programs (e.g. services providers, auto dealers, painters and repairs, etc.)
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of bring-up technicians and test operators
  • Maintain clear shift structures, task assignments, and escalation paths across the bring-up workshop
  • Ensure tooling, equipment, test rigs, and facility layouts are safe, clean, maintained, calibrated and fit-for-purpose
  • Drive structured handovers, work order discipline, and documentation standards across the team
  • Enforce safety protocols, PPE compliance, and a zero-compromise culture around workshop safety
  • Champion process discipline: Standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists, and controlled deviations
  • Work with Production Quality team to ensure root cause analysis (RCA) for bring-up defects, test failures, CAPAs and release holds, without compromising on delivery targets (effectively manage the quantity/cost/quality triangle)
  • Work with Process Engineer to identify and implement improvements to bring-up workflows, test sequences, tooling, and work instructions
  • Reduce cycle time and rework rates through structured problem-solving and lean practices
  • Partner with Global Production to align on best practices, process updates, and new platform rollouts
  • Support industrialization of new hardware revisions and vehicle variants into stable bring-up processes
  • Act as the primary on-site interface for Engineering, Fleet Operations, Supply Chain and Hardware Quality during bring-up
  • Escalate and track engineering issues, part shortages, and software blockers impacting bring-up throughput
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain on parts availability, kitting, and inventory management at the workshop level
  • Provide structured daily/weekly status updates to production leadership on bring-up health, blockers, and delivery outlook
