About The Position

The Senior Production Artist, Packaging partners closely with Packaging Designers to execute high-quality, print-ready artwork across packaging and related print materials. This role is responsible for translating approved designs into precise production files, ensuring technical accuracy, color integrity, and consistency across brands. The ideal candidate brings strong design fundamentals, deep print production expertise, and exceptional attention to detail, while collaborating cross-functionally to support flawless execution from concept through final production.

Requirements

  • BA in Graphic Design or other relevant education.
  • 5-7 years production artist experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe CC programs, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including creating and editing Word and PowerPoint documents.
  • Understanding of type / fonts, vector based design, line art, keyboard shortcuts.
  • Understanding of raster/image based artwork and design.
  • Understanding of printing techniques as well as packaging specifications and limitations.
  • Excellent technical skills with a design eye.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Must be friendly, motivated, and a team player.
  • Ability to juggle many projects at once, while maintaining quality control.
  • Must be open to feedback and comfortable with making multiple rounds of changes.
  • Partner with Project Management to ensure PHQ 100% up
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Able to troubleshoot minor problems with fonts, applications, and with your system.
  • Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively as the project requires.
  • Comfortable with creating and releasing small and large format files.
  • Excellent color matching skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience going to press checks a plus but not required.
  • Experience outputting and managing matchprint proofs on an Espon (or similar) proofer preferred
  • Multi-lingual is a plus.
  • Retail experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and release final mechanical files for packaging projects, translating approved designs into print-ready artwork.
  • Define and apply print specifications, dielines, and production requirements with precision.
  • Partner with Packaging Design, Project Management, Sourcing, Packaging Engineering, Regulatory, and Brand teams to ensure artwork accuracy, compliance, and timely release aligned to project timelines.
  • Own post-release quality control, including review and approval of press proofs, color proofs, samples, and range boards.
  • Oversee the output of matchprint proofs, both through external vendors and on an in-house Epson proofer, ensuring accuracy against approved artwork and color standards.
  • Interface directly with vendors to resolve production issues, ensure adherence to specifications, and maintain quality standards; attend press checks as required.
  • Maintain and apply color management processes across projects, including four-color and spot color workflows.
  • Select appropriate Pantone color targets, match product samples to Pantone standards, and ensure accurate color reproduction throughout print production.
  • Partner with Packaging Designers to develop, document, and maintain packaging guidelines, templates, and production standards that promote consistency, efficiency, and scalability across brands.
