Senior Product Software Engineer, Front End
About The Position
Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is reimagining ways to create magical viewing experiences for the world’s most beloved stories while also transforming Disney’s media business for the future. Product Software Engineers are at the heart of that innovation and magic, building platforms, services, tools and infrastructure for an unmatched collection of content and brands. This role is part of a diverse and talented organization focused on building and maintaining our next generation Content Management Systems. These applications are used by the teams that manage ABC News, ABC Owned and Operated Television Stations, National Geographic and Marvel. The team uses modern web technologies such as JavaScript, Node, React, GraphQL, and MongoDB to deliver scalable and elegant solutions for new product features and core site architecture.
Requirements
- Proven understanding of programming and software development practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of modern web technologies (JavaScript, React, CSS3, GraphQL)
- Demonstrated ability to research solutions to complex problems
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Driven and self-motivated
- 5+ years relevant industry experience
- BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Experience programming with a best of breed UI stack: React/React Native, Redux, TypeScript, CSS3/SCSS, Jest, React Testing Library, Selenium/Nightwatch/Cypress, SauceLabs, WebPack, Babel, Node/Express, OAuth 2.0/JWT
- Full stack experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop core site functionality using JavaScript (React) and GraphQL
- Prototype new features and research applicable technologies
- Implement best practices to continually increase performance and scalability
- Support team members by reviewing merge requests to ensure code quality standards and product requirements are met
- Work with engineering peers, product, design, and project management to refine specs and timelines
- Partner with other engineering teams to deliver best solutions
- Mentor and provide feedback to junior engineers
- Collaborate with story tellers and designers across our brands
