About The Position

You'll help shape our personal lines product strategy by diagnosing why the line of business is performing the way it is and partnering with state and product leaders to act on what you find. In this role you’ll monitor line-of-business performance, diagnose the drivers behind profitability, growth, and retention trends, and translate competitive and market insight into clear recommendations that leaders can act on. It blends product strategy, financial and market analysis, and hands-on business partnership to support pricing enhancements, new product concepts, and ongoing product health. We’re looking for someone who’s curious, analytical, and customer focused. Someone who explores issues beyond the surface to understand root causes, connects market dynamics to business outcomes, and helps guide decisions through thoughtful analysis and clear communication.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex financial, actuarial or business analysis.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of customer, business industry, insurance, underwriting guidelines and risk concepts in area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills to review complex products, and/or lines of business.
  • Demonstrated experience making independent decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management methodologies, practices, techniques and tools.
  • In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from the office. Candidates should reside within approximately 35-50 miles of one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783 or Boston, MA 02110.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with state product managers to diagnose the root causes behind profit, growth, and retention trends — and co-develop the actions to address them.
  • Monitor and analyze performance of product lines, agents, and books of business; identify the trends and opportunities.
  • Evaluate profit drivers and turn performance analysis into concrete strategy recommendations across profit, growth, retention, and overall book health.
  • Track competitor products, pricing, target markets, and program changes; summarize what they mean for our competitive position and where we should respond.
  • Produce competitive research using multiple sources of market and performance information; form a point of view and recommend actions to leadership.
  • Stay current on competitor rate changes, rating enhancements, and program changes; review filings, rate and rule manuals, and assess the business impact for our lines.
  • Partner across pricing/actuarial, underwriting, and claims to pressure-test recommendations and keep products compliant and financially sound.
  • Research and shape concepts for new or enhanced products and services, including identifying product gaps and the opportunities behind them.
  • Support development of underwriting guidelines and standards; serve as a subject-matter resource on guidelines and contract language as needed.
  • Translate insights from pricing and predictive models into product strategy and recommendations.
  • May serve as project lead for product and service implementations, using sound project-management practices.
