Senior Product Manager

Choice HotelsNorth Bethesda, MD

About The Position

Choice Hotels is undergoing a transformation to a Product Operating Model (POM), focusing on delivering customer and business outcomes through cross-functional product teams. This role is a Senior Product Manager position within this new model, aimed at tackling complex product challenges with significant cross-functional impact. The Senior Product Manager will be an individual contributor responsible for shaping product strategy, driving decisions that impact customers, revenue, and costs, and bringing clarity to ambiguity. This role requires deep thinking, sharp judgment, and setting high standards for product work, rather than coordination or people management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience solving genuinely hard product problems and articulating the process, not just the outcome.
  • Experience making consequential product decisions that affected business performance and understanding the trade-offs involved.
  • Comfort working with incomplete information and making decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct strong, disciplined, and structured discovery.
  • Ability to use data effectively without relying on it solely, understanding when it helps, when it misleads, and when to seek primary sources.
  • Sufficient technical depth to collaborate meaningfully with engineering on architecture, platform constraints, and delivery trade-offs.
  • Understanding of how product decisions tie back to business unit goals, customer outcomes, and long-term strategy.
  • Developed judgment that earns trust for recommendations, even when uncomfortable.
  • Willingness to engage hands-on with product work, pressure-test problems, and make hard calls.
  • Not a people leadership role; focus is on individual contribution and influence.

Responsibilities

  • Own discovery and delivery for highly complex product problems that span across teams, systems, and customer journeys.
  • Contribute directly to product strategy by leveraging ground-level customer knowledge and business understanding to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Translate ambiguity into decisions using customer research, data analysis, prototyping, and experimentation.
  • Challenge assumptions, reframe problems, and uncover critical questions for the business.
  • Connect dots across product, engineering, design, operations, and commercial teams to identify dependencies, overlaps, and missed opportunities.
  • Apply a clear business lens to product work, making recommendations based on customer need, product viability, delivery cost, and business impact.
  • Partner with business unit leaders and subject matter experts to shape priorities, clarify direction, and test strategy.
  • Raise the bar for product practice by setting a standard for discovery, framing problems, designing experiments, interpreting data, and making judgment calls on value and viability.
  • Informally mentor other Product Managers by pairing on discovery problems, providing feedback, and helping them sharpen their customer insight and business acumen.
