Senior Product Manager | Bankrate

Red Ventures
$100,000 - $195,000Hybrid

About The Position

This role is open to remote or hybrid candidates (East Coast preference), with hybrid being central to our New York, NY or Charlotte area offices. Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours. As a Senior Product Manager, you will own major portions of the squad’s roadmap and shape its coherence. You act as the deep owner of the squad’s core domain and the creator of clarity and multi-quarter strategy. In this role, you define the "center of gravity" for major strategy components and operate with a strategic horizon of 6–18 months. Specifically, you will focus on Bankrate’s Supply platform ecosystem, with core ownership of components within Loantek (our pricing and product engine that underpins the home lending marketplace), BAP, and RMS. This is a high-impact platform role focused on reducing complexity, increasing scalability and reliability, and creating clarity across pricing, data, and advertiser workflows. You will help determine the best path forward to invest in our platform and innovate to support greater personalization and pre-qualification capabilities, ensuring the platform is resilient and prepared for future growth and expected 2026 refinance traffic surges.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a strategic horizon of 6–18 months owning complex, interconnected platform components rather than isolated features.
  • Deep experience or strong familiarity with a home lending pricing engine or PPE, ideally in mortgage or refinance contexts.
  • Experience with platforms such as Optimal Blue, Mortech, or similar pricing engines is highly valued.
  • Prior experience with mortgage pricing, rate logic, eligibility constraints, margins, and advertiser considerations is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to modernize legacy platforms and scale systems to handle increased volume and complexity.
  • Expert ability to synthesize complex insights into clear, actionable direction.
  • A technical background, either as an engineer or in a product role focused on complex backend systems, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience defining and driving measurable outcomes rather than just output, with a proven track record in revenue-impacting or platform-critical systems.
  • Ability to build alignment across multiple roadmap streams, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on system behavior, legacy complexity, and constraints rather than premature implementation details.
  • Ability to adjust the level of solution involvement based on the role and strategic horizon.

Responsibilities

  • Define multi-quarter direction and measurable outcomes, synthesizing complex insights into clear direction.
  • Articulate a cohesive modernization roadmap from a product lens to handle increased scale, complexity, and volume across the pricing engine and supporting systems.
  • Lead cross-functional execution across engineering, design, and data science for complex initiatives, ensuring work is delivered with clarity, quality, and measurable impact.
  • Partner with Engineering and Design leads to ensure strong execution health, technical quality, and appropriate sequencing of foundational vs. feature work.
  • Create structure and alignment across multiple roadmap streams.
  • Frame strategic tradeoffs explicitly and guide investment decisions using customer needs, advertiser outcomes, platform health, and business impact.
  • Maintain appropriate distance from specific solutions as scope increases, focusing instead on underlying problems, constraints, and system behavior.
  • Define success metrics tied to platform scalability, pricing effectiveness, advertiser outcomes, and system reliability.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative insights to guide prioritization and validate outcomes.
  • Build voice-of-customer connection by working with stakeholders to gain direct access to customers and advertisers for validation.
  • Develop deep mastery of the product domain, users, and underlying systems—including Loantek’s pricing logic, integrations, constraints, and operational realities—to serve as a trusted source of context.
  • Use this judgment to anticipate implications and downstream effects.
  • Apply this expertise to shape strategy, guide others, and inform cross-domain tradeoffs rather than to control individual solutions.
