About The Position

Vibrant Planet is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead an early-stage line of business from its inception to full scale. This role involves reporting to the Chief Product Officer and collaborating with various teams including fire science and analytics, application and data engineering, design, and business development. The Senior Utilities PM will be responsible for user experience, data flows, fire science integration, partnership development, and delivery mechanisms. This position offers the opportunity to work with a high-caliber team on a product that significantly contributes to wildfire and infrastructure resilience.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of owning complex B2B or B2G products.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading customer discovery with technical, expert, or enterprise customers and translating findings into product decisions.
  • Experience in a 'zero-to-one' capacity, including business model definition, pricing input, liability considerations, and creating training and support materials.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with deep domain experts (scientists, engineers, analysts) and add value; STEM education or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Comfort with data and statistics, though extensive personal data analysis is not expected.
  • Significant experience in at least one of the following: electric utilities space, meteorology, fire modeling.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (4-8 trips/year).

Responsibilities

  • Be the expert on named account user experiences within Vibrant Planet applications and their broader roles, utilizing quantitative and qualitative tools such as interviews, prototypes, data analysis, and surveys.
  • Advocate for user interests to business, design, and engineering teams, including moderating 'dogfooding' exercises.
  • Synthesize user needs and technical capabilities into prioritized features and products.
  • Own the product roadmap for assigned areas, ensuring transparency in prioritization and trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with Design, Science, and Engineering to ensure timely and effective product delivery.
  • Communicate team accomplishments, progress, and risks to leadership and the wider company.
  • Provide significant input to company strategy and investor documentation.
  • Develop and validate business cases for new product initiatives, including pricing, packaging, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Define and articulate strategic differentiators and understand the value of scientifically sound models and results.
  • Partner with leadership to align product investments with company growth objectives.
  • Support sales and marketing efforts through training, collateral development, and collaboration.
  • Contribute to proposals, pilot projects, and strategic account discussions.
