GM Energy was launched in 2021 and is rapidly growing as GM expands beyond the vehicle to deliver an integrated energy ecosystem. GM Energy’s products and solutions include charging systems and energy storage systems and the software platforms needed to operate, optimize, and aggregate these assets on the grid. GM Energy launched its retail product line in 2024 to provide integrated charging and energy solutions for residential customers. Our vision is to empower EV drivers with seamless charging and energy solutions that connect their journeys, homes, and communities. We are focused on increasing EV adoption, strengthening customer retention and loyalty, and creating new revenue streams, all in support of GM’s vision of zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. The Software Product Manager, Utility and Energy Markets helps define and execute GM Energy’s utility and energy market software portfolio in partnership with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders. This role is focused on software solutions to scale GM Energy grid service capabilities including program enrollment, managed charging, interoperability, and the backend integrations required to support utility and grid service programs. The ideal candidate understands utility and DER standards such as IEEE 2030.5, OpenADR, and related protocol ecosystems, along with residential grid service models such as demand response, capacity, and ancillary services. This person will work cross-functionally across business development, hardware, sales, CRM, go-to-market, engineering, and program management teams to translate external program requirements into scalable software solutions.
