Senior Product Manager, Sustainability

Iron MountainMassachusetts - Remote, MA

About The Position

Iron Mountain's Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) business is seeking a Sustainability & Circular Economy Principal. This senior individual contributor role is embedded within the Product Management organization and focuses on three key areas: shaping how Iron Mountain's ALM services evolve to meet sustainability demands, advising clients on how these services connect to their ESG commitments, and building Iron Mountain's credibility in the market. The role is ideal for a practitioner with experience in the ITAD industry and deep sustainability expertise who wants a platform to apply these skills at a global enterprise level. The increasing importance of end-of-life enterprise infrastructure, driven by AI acceleration, board-level sustainability mandates, and growing regulatory requirements, places the downstream lifecycle of compute assets at a critical intersection of infosec risk, ESG accountability, and financial performance. Iron Mountain is uniquely positioned to lead this market conversation due to its scale, client relationships, and operational depth in ITAM & ITAD. This role will drive that leadership through product development, client advisory, and market narrative. The Sustainability Principal will operate with significant autonomy, direct access to senior leadership, and the freedom to make sustainability a key differentiator. This is an opportunity to develop a new vision and capability with the backing of a global enterprise.

Requirements

  • Direct, operational experience in IT asset disposition (ITAD), electronics reuse and recycling, or data center decommissioning.
  • Understanding of value recovery, data erasure, reverse logistics, and compliance certifications at the delivery level.
  • Knowledge of enterprise and hyperscale client requirements for ITAD programs.
  • Experience as a sustainability practitioner, including developing sustainability strategy, setting measurable ESG goals, and reporting on outcomes.
  • Working fluency in circular economy frameworks, ESG reporting standards (GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD), and the regulatory landscape for e-waste and end-of-life IT.
  • Ability to engage CSOs on Scope 3 methodology and VP of Infrastructure on decommission workflows in the same client meeting.
  • Experience with external visibility and market engagement, including presenting at conferences, publishing content, hosting/appearing on podcasts, or engaging analysts.
  • Clear and compelling writing skills for a business audience, with the ability to make technical concepts accessible.
  • Comfort representing a company's public face and point of view with authenticity.
  • Structured thinking to address ambiguous problems: identifying needs, framing opportunities, building cases, and driving recommendations.
  • Ability to work across functions (sales, marketing, legal, operations, engineering) as an influential individual contributor.
  • Commercial grounding, understanding how sustainability commitments translate into procurement criteria and the need for business cases for product ideas.
  • 15+ years of experience spanning ITAD, electronics reuse and recycling, or data center lifecycle management, with a significant portion in a sustainability-focused or externally-facing capacity.
  • Demonstrated track record of building or scaling a sustainability program, service line, or market initiative within an ITAD or technology services business.
  • Experience engaging enterprise or hyperscale clients at the VP and C-suite level on sustainability criteria in a commercial or advisory context.
  • Public-facing credibility (conference speaking, published content, podcast presence, analyst briefings, or equivalent market visibility).
  • Fluency in ESG reporting frameworks and working knowledge of ITAD certifications and standards.
  • Experience in product management, solutions architecture, or structured service development (formal PM background is a plus).
  • Entrepreneurial background (founding, scaling, or significantly transforming a business or program is a differentiator).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • MBA preferred.
