About The Position

Copia Automation is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead product strategy and execution for their Source Control product and the new Copia Actions product. Source Control is used by automation engineers for versioning PLC and automation code, while Copia Actions introduces automated workflows, acting as a CI/CD layer for industrial automation. The role involves developing product roadmaps, prioritizing backlogs in partnership with engineering, defining requirements, managing customer feedback, and collaborating with marketing and success teams for product launches. Key responsibilities include owning the Source Control roadmap, leading Copia Actions from inception to general availability, understanding the needs of automation engineers, driving cross-functional integration with other Copia product teams, engaging with customers and stakeholders, and establishing KPIs to measure product impact.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of hands-on product management experience.
  • At least 2 years focused on developer tools, source control, CI/CD, or developer productivity products.
  • Experience in fast-paced product organizations or high-growth startups.
  • Taken at least one product or major feature from 0 to 1 and seen it through to GA.
  • Excellent communication skills, skilled at aligning various stakeholders.
  • Low ego, receptive to feedback and agile in adjusting plans.
  • Strong technical acumen: ability to engage deeply with engineering on Git internals, CI/CD systems, and developer tooling tradeoffs.
  • Proven ability to translate technical capabilities into customer and business value.
  • Experience working closely with engineers as end users.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in industrial automation, manufacturing systems, or OT/IT convergence.
  • Experience as a PM (or close partner to PMs) on a developer tool such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Atlassian, Linear, or similar.
  • Experience with CI/CD or workflow automation products (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Git workflows, code review practices, and DevOps culture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop actionable hypotheses that guide product initiatives, contributing to product roadmaps and strategy.
  • Prioritize and manage the project backlog in alignment with the product roadmap in partnership with engineering.
  • Define requirements and create specifications for new projects or features, working closely with engineering.
  • Manage customer feedback channels and market research activities, using data to validate or adjust product iterations.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, success, and engineering for product launch planning.
  • Own the Source Control roadmap: Define and prioritize improvements across branching, diffing, code review, version history, and integrations with PLC IDEs and automation platforms.
  • Lead Copia Actions from 0 to 1: Define the MVP, identify the right use cases, and bring the product through alpha, beta, and GA.
  • Be the voice of the automation engineer: Understand how controls engineers, PLC programmers, and OT teams ship code today, and where the workflow breaks down.
  • Drive cross-functional impact: Partner with other product teams (Platform, DeviceLink, Copilot) so Source Control and Actions fit cleanly into the rest of Copia.
  • Customer & stakeholder engagement: Act as both internal product expert and external face of the product, working directly with customers, solution engineers, partners, and leadership.
  • Metrics & outcomes: Establish KPIs for Source Control engagement (commits, PRs, reviews) and Copia Actions adoption (workflows created, runs); measure impact on retention and customer satisfaction.
