Kraken
•$110,400 - $220,800

About The Position

Kraken is seeking a Product Manager with deep UX and interaction design expertise to build social experiences around investing and trading. The role involves designing complete social journeys, making interaction details work, prototyping before committing to a build, using psychology to improve participation, observing users and fixing what gets in their way, designing for first and repeated use, connecting design decisions to measurable outcomes, and taking the experience through launch. The company, Payward, is the parent company behind Kraken and has been building financial infrastructure for 15 years to advance an open, global financial system.

Requirements

  • Designed and shipped consumer social experiences, with a portfolio showing contribution to feeds, profiles, sharing, messaging, discovery, or communities, and how the experience changed after launch.
  • Strong interaction design craft, with the ability to explain flow structure, user perception, understanding needs, and potential simplifications.
  • Ability to build realistic interactive prototypes using tools like Figma, code, or AI, including transitions, empty states, and failure states.
  • Understanding of user behavior through evidence, demonstrating how user research challenged assumptions and changed designs.
  • Ability to own product outcomes, prioritize problems, define success, interpret data, and explain experiment results.
  • Understanding of the context of social finance, accounting for credibility, incentives, reputation, and visibility of financial activity.
  • Comfortable designing flows, building interactive prototypes, and working through interaction details with designers and engineers.
  • Ownership of product decisions, including which customer problem to solve, what to ship first, and how to measure experience improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design complete social journeys, including discovery, following, sharing, responding, and returning interactions.
  • Make interaction details work, shaping navigation, information hierarchy, copy, defaults, gestures, and feedback.
  • Prototype ideas into interactive prototypes to communicate intended behavior, explore alternatives, and test uncertain parts.
  • Use psychology to improve participation by understanding user motivations and translating them into design decisions.
  • Observe users and fix obstacles by running usability sessions and analyzing funnel data.
  • Design for first use and repeated use, ensuring usefulness before connections and keeping sharing lightweight.
  • Connect design decisions to measurable outcomes by defining expected behavior, tracking metrics, and evaluating experiments.
  • Take the experience through launch, choosing a focused initial scope, resolving trade-offs, reviewing implementation, and deciding on improvements.
