Senior Product Manager - Secrets Manager

Bitwarden
$165,000 - $200,000Remote

About The Position

Bitwarden is seeking a technical Senior Product Manager to lead the Secrets Manager product end-to-end. This role involves owning the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a product targeted at developers and DevOps teams, used for managing secrets across CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes clusters, infrastructure-as-code workflows, and production services. The position is crucial as machine identities increasingly outnumber human ones and AI agents become significant consumers of credentials. The Senior Product Manager will focus on addressing the challenges of providing secure, time-bound, and auditable credential access for non-human consumers. This role requires a customer-backwards approach, involving regular interaction with developers and platform engineers to understand their needs and translate them into a product roadmap. The position will collaborate closely with a dedicated Senior Product Owner for backlog management and sprint delivery, allowing the Product Manager to focus on strategy, discovery, positioning, and cross-product coordination. The role also emphasizes an AI-native working style, utilizing AI tools for various product development tasks and coordinating with other product workstreams (Private Access, Agentic Innovation) to ensure a coherent product line. The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for the developer experience across various surfaces like SDKs, CLI, Kubernetes operator, Terraform provider, CI/CD integrations, and platform APIs, and will play a key role in delivering agentic credential access within Secrets Manager.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product management, with meaningful time spent owning a developer-facing, DevOps, or infrastructure product.
  • Shipped products that developers chose to adopt.
  • Technical depth: Ability to read API documentation, SDK specs, and architecture diagrams and hold your own in a design discussion.
  • Working familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Security-first orientation: Understanding of authentication, authorization, access policies, audit logging, and credential lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a roadmap where you made the hard calls, said no to real requests, and can explain the reasoning behind both.
  • Comfort operating with a delivery partner rather than running the backlog yourself.
  • Practical experience using AI tools to accelerate research, spec writing, competitive analysis, and prototyping (Anthropic Claude preferred).
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely for technical and executive audiences, and to collaborate directly with engineering leadership, product marketing, and sales.
  • Comfort working in public, as roadmap, code, and community conversations are visible.

Nice To Haves

  • Secrets management, PAM, or identity background is a strong plus.
  • Adjacent infrastructure experience is enough if the security instincts are there.
  • Point of view on what agentic workloads mean for credential security.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Secrets Manager roadmap and strategy: Define the vision, set quarterly commitments, and make the prioritization calls.
  • Run continuous customer discovery: Talk to developers, DevOps engineers, and platform teams regularly. Mine GitHub issues, community forums, closed-lost deal data, and support signals.
  • Write the documents that drive decisions: Produce PRDs, PR/FAQs, and strategy narratives that hold up under scrutiny from the executive leadership team.
  • Partner with your Product Owner: Hand off well-framed problems and let your PO own backlog quality, sprint planning, and delivery coordination.
  • Own the developer experience across surfaces: SDKs, CLI, Kubernetes operator, Terraform provider, CI/CD integrations, and platform APIs.
  • Deliver agentic credential access in Secrets Manager: Shape the strategy for how agents authenticate, how credentials get scoped and time-bounded, and what the audit trail looks like.
  • Partner on go-to-market: Work with product marketing, sales, and solutions engineering on positioning, competitive response, pricing and packaging input, and launch readiness.
  • Measure outcomes, not output: Instrument the product. Track adoption, activation, integration usage, expansion, and retention.
