About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to take charge of our data privacy and platform strategy. You will be the point person for balancing our business needs, like audience growth and personalization, with the reality of global privacy regulations. This role is a mix of high-level roadmap planning and deep-in-the-weeds technical problem solving, specifically regarding our Data Subject Request (DSR) platform. This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week. At People Inc., we treat reader trust as our most valuable asset. This role is not just building a platform; this role is building the infrastructure that allows our readers to trust us with their data. This team solves hard, "real-world" technical problems that have a tangible impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product management owning backend platforms.
  • Experience in data-heavy environments or managing compliance-related products or identity systems is required.
  • DSR Platform Expertise: Experience developing or expanding DSR systems, understanding identity verification and data synchronization across disconnected stacks, and having a vision for automation.
  • Technical Authority: Ability to lead technical discussions with engineers, with a strong grasp of APIs, data flow, and warehouse environments like BigQuery or Snowflake.
  • Articulate Communication: Skill in distilling complex legal mandates or technical constraints into clear, actionable insights for leadership across Legal, Editorial, and Revenue teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred and/or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the DSR Platform: Lead the roadmap to evolve the current DSR process from a compliance checkbox into a scalable, automated system that handles access, deletion, and portability requests across all data silos.
  • Balance Privacy & Product: Define how data and identity are managed to stay fully compliant (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) without sacrificing user experience or the ability to deliver relevant content.
  • Build the Foundation: Partner with engineering to modernize data architecture, understanding data lineage, governance, and security to guide architectural decisions across business units.
  • Make Privacy User-Friendly: Design transparent, user-centric flows that help readers understand their data, building long-term brand trust.
  • Cross-Functional Strategy: Act as a bridge between Legal, AdTech, and Engineering, explaining technical risk to legal and regulatory requirements to engineering leads.
