Senior Product Manager, Platform & Commercial Enablement

3DegreesSan Francisco, CA
$160,000 - $184,000Hybrid

About The Position

At 3Degrees, a Certified B Corporation driving climate action, we’re building the next generation of digital products that accelerate the energy transition. We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager, Platform & Commercial Enablement to join our small, fast-moving team and own the product surfaces that connect our SaaS platform to the commercial and consulting teams serving 3Degrees’ enterprise clients. This is a role for a true doer who is equally comfortable in a code editor and in front of an enterprise customer. You'll write the requirements, prototype the flows, partner with engineers to ship thoughtfully, update the knowledge that powers our AI, run demos and feedback sessions with enterprise clients, and be back in a pricing conversation with the commercial team by the afternoon. You’ll use the same tools our engineers use — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex — to build functional prototypes, draft technical specs, run demos, gather customer feedback, and showcase how a feature could work before we commit engineering cycles to it. You’ll bring strong systems thinking to a domain where better information architecture and data flows translate directly into less manual work, higher consulting-team leverage, and faster answers for enterprise clients. You’ll partner closely with our Lead Product Engineer, Full Stack & AI on technical direction, and with leaders across Commercial, Consulting, and Marketing on the surfaces that touch our enterprise go-to-market motion. If you believe the best PMs today are the ones who can build what they’re asking for — and who bring that multiplier to the teams around them — this is the role for you. This is a full-time role reporting to the Sr. Director of Product. We value camaraderie, team collaboration, and the benefits of in-person connection, while offering flexibility. For this role, we prefer candidates to join us in a voluntary, flexible hybrid work style in our San Francisco Bay Area office. We may also consider candidates who are able to join us at one of our office hubs in Portland, ME; or New York, NY. For exceptional remote candidates, we strongly prefer those located in states where we are currently eligible to hire: CA, OR, NY, WA, ME, TX, CO, MI, FL, MA, MN, VA, DC, GA, UT, and IL. While we prioritize candidates in, or open to relocating to, these states, we may consider outstanding remote candidates from other US states. Please note that hiring in a new state would involve evaluating the implications of establishing a new hiring presence there. Additionally, 3Degrees does not provide relocation assistance for this position. Please Note: 3Degrees does not provide sponsorship or work authorization assistance; therefore, pre-existing right-to-work status is a prerequisite to be considered for this position.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record shipping SaaS product surfaces end to end, from discovery through release, in fast-moving environments
  • Strong product instincts: you know which problems are worth solving now, which are ignorable, and which ones masquerade as the other
  • Clear, concise writing; comfortable going from a blank page to a one-pager that aligns engineering, commercial, and leadership
  • Comfortable and credible in front of enterprise customers — running demos, leading discovery interviews, presenting prototypes, and turning what you hear into product direction
  • Fluent daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar) to build functional prototypes, scaffold PRDs with real data, and explore feature options before engineering commits
  • Comfortable reading and writing enough code to prototype in TypeScript/Next.js, experiment with data flows, and have substantive technical conversations with engineers about modern web infrastructure, including AWS, Azure, Vercel, or similar platforms
  • Willing to take a feature from “idea” to “working demo” yourself rather than handing it off
  • Strong systems thinker who sees organizations, products, and data as connected graphs — and who can spot the missing edge that, once added, unlocks disproportionate value
  • Track record of improving information architecture and data flows in ways that reduce manual work and raise output quality
  • Pragmatic sequencing: you know when to clean the model and when to ship the ugly-but-correct version and iterate
  • Experience partnering with commercial, sales, consulting, and customer-facing teams to turn workflows and customer feedback into repeatable product surfaces
  • Comfort with pricing, packaging, catalog, and proposal workflows; familiarity with the operational realities of enterprise B2B selling
  • Communicates well with both engineers and enterprise stakeholders, adjusting register without losing substance
  • Curiosity about climate, energy, or environmental markets, with the ability to translate domain input into dependable product
  • Comfortable moving at startup velocity inside an established company, adapting quickly as requirements evolve
  • Self-directed, action-biased, and genuinely motivated by helping teammates and customers do their best work
  • Meaningful experience as a product manager on technical SaaS products; this is a senior IC role with no direct reports
  • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience building and shipping modern SaaS and AI-enabled products

Responsibilities

  • Own the product surfaces that make 3Degrees’ commercial and consulting teams faster and more effective — and you’ll partner closely with engineering to take them from discovery through QA, security review, rollout, and measurement.
  • Own the product catalog: what we sell, how it’s structured, how business models, packaging, and indicative pricing are defined, and how it surfaces inside our SaaS application and external channels
  • Partner with Commercial and Finance to evolve how business models, pricing logic, bundling, and eligibility rules are modeled; replace tribal knowledge with a system the application can reason about
  • Build the workflows that turn catalog data into tangible commercial outputs — proposals, quotes, scoping documents — generated inside the application instead of assembled manually
  • Design and ship the proposal workflow: how the commercial team configures, reviews, and sends proposals through the application, with AI assistance where it meaningfully reduces time-to-send
  • Shorten the feedback loop between Commercial and Consulting: cleaner handoffs, shared context, visibility into deal pipeline and scoping decisions
  • Identify and eliminate the manual, repetitive work that pulls consulting and commercial staff away from high-impact client work
  • Run demos, structured interviews, and surveys directly with enterprise clients to validate problems, test workflows, and pressure-test prototypes before committing engineering resources
  • Build trusted relationships with key enterprise customer stakeholders so feedback loops are continuous, not episodic
  • Translate customer signal into product decisions and back into the commercial and consulting teams so the whole organization stays oriented to client reality
  • Own the knowledge center that feeds our AI agents: what content lives there, how it’s structured, how it’s updated, how it connects with other AI agents and internal tools, and how additional knowledge from 3Degrees systems is ingested safely and at scale
  • Work across 3Degrees’ data and subject-matter sources to identify knowledge that can inform the AI and help enterprise clients answer common questions without pulling a consultant off higher-value work
  • Partner with the Consulting team so AI-assisted client interactions amplify their work rather than compete with it — better qualified inquiries, warmer handoffs, more scoped opportunities
  • Map how information flows today across the application, commercial processes, and consulting handoffs; identify the bottlenecks and redesign them
  • Drive the information architecture changes that reduce manual work inside 3Degrees while raising the quality of client-facing output
  • Keep the model consistent — product catalog, pricing, knowledge, proposals, and AI context all pointing at the same source of truth
  • Write crisp, one-page briefs and specs that engineers can start building against; when a picture is worth more, build a prototype
  • Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) fluently to scaffold prototypes, explore design options, and validate technical assumptions before committing engineering resources
  • Own smaller features end to end — discovery, spec, build-with, QA, security review, and rollout — collaborating with engineering on code review, testing, and release practices so the team ships more without compromising on quality or security
  • Work within the engineering team's standards for code review, testing, security review, and deployment — your prototypes accelerate decisions and your shipped features go through the same quality bar as anything else in the codebase
  • Pair closely with the Lead Product Engineer and the wider engineering team on technical trade-offs, release planning, and measurement
  • Serve as the product voice for Commercial, Consulting, and Marketing stakeholders; translate their needs into shippable product bets
  • Drive alignment across engineering, commercial, consulting, and leadership on roadmap, trade-offs, and outcomes — articulating the 'why' behind investment decisions clearly enough that teams understand the intent, can challenge it constructively, and can pull in the same direction
  • Support broader Digital Products alignment efforts led by Product leadership — contributing the customer, commercial, and platform-surface perspective so investment decisions are grounded in real signal
  • Represent the customer inside the engineering team and the product reality outside it
