Senior Product Manager, Kubernetes & Cluster Lifecycle

Spectro Cloud•San Jose, CA

About The Position

Spectro Cloud is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the Kubernetes and Cluster Lifecycle product area. This role is crucial as Kubernetes becomes the common infrastructure abstraction for VMs, containers, and AI workloads. The ideal candidate will drive the strategy for multi-cluster management, enabling enterprises to manage heterogeneous infrastructure estates across public clouds, private clouds, and bare metal. You will focus on making all clusters first-class citizens, ensuring they are declared, reconciled, and operated with rigor, regardless of their underlying substrate. This is a deep domain role requiring daily interaction with senior engineering leads and large enterprise customers, valuing technical fluency and strategic judgment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience on infrastructure products.
  • Hands-on exposure to 2 or more platform families, ideally one public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, or their managed Kubernetes services) and one on-prem (vSphere, Nutanix, bare metal).
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes, including cluster lifecycle, upgrades, and operators, sufficient to gain the respect of senior engineers and enterprise platform teams.
  • Judgment to differentiate between fast-moving strategic work and stable surfaces requiring discipline.
  • Understanding of the costs and benefits of tracking upstream Kubernetes.
  • Clear written communication skills, effective across different time zones and cultures.

Nice To Haves

  • Cluster API familiarity.
  • Participation in CNCF SIGs, working groups, or open source communities.
  • CKA/CKAD or similar hands-on Kubernetes certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own the infrastructure for AI workloads, including bare metal and private cloud as substrates for GPU clusters.
  • Manage the full cluster lifecycle across all substrates: provisioning, upgrades, scaling, and Day-2 operations.
  • Oversee platform transitions, including customer-facing migration experiences and communication when the ecosystem evolves.
  • Define the strategic direction for brownfield adoption and federation, enabling the management of clusters built outside the Spectro Cloud platform without disruption.
  • Develop long-term support (LTS) as a product for Kubernetes versions and workloads, including vendor relationships and version support policies.
  • Define strategies for estate organization and multi-tenancy, including tenant and team boundaries, shared vs. dedicated clusters, and access/isolation models.
  • Potentially take ownership of new product areas as the platform grows.

Benefits

  • Direct access to founders, engineering leadership, and customers.
  • Real ownership of a core product domain.
