About The Position

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Manager, Data Platform to lead a product team of approximately 7 engineers and quality engineers, supported by a Scrum Master. The role involves transitioning from foundational data capabilities to a marketing activation platform. The initial focus will be on owning the roadmap for data ingestion, modeling, and dashboards, building the customer entity, identity, and event foundations essential for marketing. As this foundation matures, the role will expand to lead the team in developing self-service tools for audiences, journeys, triggered and broadcast programs, dynamic content, and a next-best action decisioning engine. The position requires planning data investments based on enabled marketing use cases and collaborating with the Data Science team to ensure their models can integrate with the decisioning engine. This is an in-office role located in Arlington, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in product management or digital product development
  • 3+ years as a product manager for a data engineering or data platform team, including owning roadmaps, writing stories, and working directly with data engineers
  • Hands-on fluency with data ingestion patterns, entity modeling, identity resolution, data quality, and lineage
  • Experience with marketing data as a primary use case, such as CDPs, customer 360, event pipelines feeding marketing tools, or personalization
  • Exposure to journey orchestration, audience building, or decisioning, whether built in-house or on platforms such as Braze, Adobe (AJO/RTCDP), Salesforce, Iterable, or Pega
  • Experience designing self-service products, including guardrails, permissions, and governance
  • Experience guiding a team through a shift in technical direction, such as batch data work to real-time or customer-facing services
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and align teams and stakeholders without direct authority
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience as a Scrum Product Owner
  • Proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to translate between data engineers, data scientists, and marketers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or evolving a decisioning or offer-arbitration system
  • Experience defining integration contracts between data science and production systems
  • Experience building internal platforms or tooling in-house, and vendor evaluation and build vs. buy experience
  • Background in marketing operations, CRM, or lifecycle marketing before moving into product
  • Privacy, consent, and channel compliance experience
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap, backlog, and user stories for data ingestion, modeling, and marketing data products, working directly with data engineers.
  • Define data contracts, data quality SLAs, and source onboarding priorities.
  • Establish the customer entity, identity resolution approach, and event taxonomy that marketing activation depends on.
  • Define the vision, strategy, and capability map for the marketing activation platform, including audience tooling, journey orchestration infrastructure, triggered and broadcast frameworks, dynamic content zones, and a next best action decisioning engine.
  • Partner with the Data Science team to define the integration contract for how models feed decisioning, so new models can ship without custom integration.
  • Design self-service capabilities with the guardrails, permissions, and governance marketers need to move quickly without creating conflicting journeys or over-messaging customers.
  • Gather and analyze business, marketer, and data science needs to inform prioritization.
  • Create and maintain requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and specifications.
  • Partner with Delivery, Data Science, Marketing, Operations, and IT to plan and execute sprints, resolve issues, and manage release scope.
  • Define success measures with stakeholders, including data freshness and quality, marketer adoption, and time-to-launch for new audiences and journeys.
  • Review and validate delivered capabilities against requirements.
  • Communicate status, progress, and risks to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Support training, documentation, and rollout for marketers and other platform users.
  • Research emerging trends, technologies, and competitor capabilities.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and product demonstrations as needed.
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.
