About The Position

Engine is seeking a Senior Product Manager for its Applied AI team. This role is focused on building internal automation to make business functions faster and more scalable. The Product Manager will be embedded within a business function, identifying and automating manual steps to improve efficiency. The goal is to transform how work gets done by leveraging AI and automation. Engine is described as an AI-native platform for intelligent travel, with a decade of experience and a strong customer base. Requirements

  • 4+ years in product management, ideally on internal tools, operations, or workflow products.
  • At least one AI or automation product in production.
  • Experience mapping messy business processes, identifying time-consuming steps, and removing them.
  • Comfort spending time shadowing operational teams (e.g., support agents, accountants).
  • Ability to baseline a cycle time and define metrics that business leaders will sign off on.
  • Understanding of AI fluency, including what LLMs and agents do well, their limitations, and the role of evaluations and human review.
  • Ability to influence leaders who do not report to you and manage scope effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Map the work by shadowing people doing the work to understand each step, handoff, and wait time.
  • Select one workload at a time to automate, prioritizing repetitive, high-volume, and time-consuming steps.
  • Define and lock key metrics (e.g., cycle time) with functional leaders before building automation.
  • Work with engineering to design and ship automation that replaces manual work at scale, utilizing AI tools and agents.
  • Define the scope and rollout plan for the first version of the automation.
  • Ensure the function can run the workload independently with a named owner after the automation is in place.
  • Make decisions on fixes or stopping development if metrics do not improve within a set deadline.
