Senior Product Manager, AI

BrexSeattle, WA
$184,000 - $230,000Hybrid

About The Position

Brex is seeking a Senior Product Manager, AI to join their team. This role will focus on the Brex Assistant, an AI agent designed to handle expense, spend, and travel tasks for employees. The Brex Assistant aims to automate busywork through conversational interfaces, reducing the need for manual data entry and form filling. The product is in its early stages, offering an opportunity to shape its development and define best practices for AI agents in the financial space. The role requires a product manager with experience in building AI products, thriving in ambiguity, and possessing strong product judgment. The position is based in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City, with a hybrid work model requiring at least three days per week in the office.

Requirements

  • You're an experienced product manager (5-7 years of relevant experience). You have a track record of owning complex, user-facing products end to end — setting direction and shipping to real users — with the scope and judgment this senior role calls for.
  • You've built AI products for other people. You've shipped LLM/agent features to real users and have genuine, hands-on depth in prompting, eval design, and iterating against measurement — not just using AI tools in your own day-to-day.
  • You thrive in ambiguity. You do your best work when the goal is clear but the path isn't — you find the approach, ship, measure, and refine. You've owned something early-stage or taken a problem area and run with it on your own initiative (as a founder, an early operator, or an early or only PM on a surface), working closely with engineering and design rather than in isolation.
  • Strong product taste and judgment about what's worth shipping to customers and what isn't.
  • You move fast and go deep — comfortable prototyping, reading data, and getting into the details rather than working through layers.

Nice To Haves

  • experience building conversational, chat-native, or SMS-based products
  • familiarity with fintech, expense management, or spend workflows

Responsibilities

  • Own product direction for the Brex Assistant — the strategy, the roadmap, and the day-to-day calls on what ships.
  • Define agent capabilities that take real actions for users, and translate messy real-world expense and spend workflows into reliable agent behaviors.
  • Invent the "how": design the evals, prompting approaches, and feedback loops that make the agent dependable — and re-invent them as the underlying models and tooling shift.
  • Get hands-on. Prototype, measure, read transcripts, and iterate quickly toward what actually works rather than what looks good in a demo.
  • Talk to users constantly, and let real usage — not assumptions — drive the next iteration.
  • Set and defend a high quality bar for an agent operating in a trust-critical, financial context.

Benefits

  • The expected salary range for this role is $184,000 - $230,000.
  • equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
