About The Position

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely. We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice. Summary: We are currently seeking a Senior Product Manager, Clio Accounting to join our product team. This role is available to candidates across Canada (excluding Quebec) and the US. If you are located near one of our hubs (Vancouver, Calgary, or Toronto), you will be expected to work in the office a minimum of twice per week on our designated Anchor Days. Law firms run on trust — with their clients, their regulators, and themselves. Clio Accounting exists to make the financial side of running a firm as confident, clear, and compliant as the legal work they do every day. We're building accounting and bookkeeping tools that don't just track numbers, but give legal professionals a genuine understanding of the health and performance of their business. We're looking for a Senior PM who brings a rare combination: enough bookkeeping fluency to earn the trust of firm administrators and finance teams, enough product and design instinct to translate complex workflows into elegant experiences, and a clear-eyed view of where AI can meaningfully — and responsibly — reshape accounting and bookkeeping processes for legal professionals. What Your Team Does Clio Accounting sits at the intersection of practice management and financial operations, serving law firms from solo practitioners to mid-sized enterprises. Your team owns core accounting capabilities including chart of accounts, trust accounting, bank reconciliation, expense tracking, financial reporting, and compliance workflows — all deeply integrated with billing, time tracking, and payments across the Clio platform. This is a domain where accuracy isn't optional and compliance isn't negotiable. At the same time, it's a space ripe for transformation: most firms are still underserved by tools that were built for general business accounting, or spreadsheets, not the specific realities of legal practice. Your team is changing that. What You'll Work On Strategic Product Leadership Define and execute a product vision and roadmap for Clio Accounting that balances compliance requirements, firm business intelligence, and the emerging opportunity of AI-powered bookkeeping. Develop a clear and defensible point of view on where AI can accelerate, automate, and improve accuracy in accounting workflows — and where human judgment must remain in the loop. Partner with Design, Engineering, and Data to ensure every feature ships with the right metrics, feedback loops, and success criteria in place. Customer and Domain Depth Build deep relationships with firm administrators, bookkeepers, accountants, and managing partners to understand how financial decisions are made inside legal practices. Champion both compliance needs and business insight needs — helping firms not just stay compliant, but actually understand what their numbers mean. Translate complex accounting concepts and regulatory requirements into product decisions that are clear enough for a junior developer to build and compelling enough for an executive to evangelize. Cross-Functional Execution Collaborate across Billing, Payments, Reporting, and Platform teams to ensure Accounting integrates seamlessly into the broader Clio product ecosystem. Partner with GTM, Customer Success, and Compliance stakeholders to drive adoption and reduce friction for customers transitioning to or expanding their use of Clio Accounting. Communicate roadmap and trade-offs with clarity and confidence across audiences — from engineering stand-ups to executive reviews.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of product management experience, with a meaningful portion in B2B SaaS — ideally in FinTech, accounting software, or business operations tools.
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting fundamentals: you don't need to be a CPA, but you should be comfortable discussing double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliation, trust accounting rules, and financial reporting with practitioners. Debits and credits shouldn’t provoke fear.
  • A genuine interest in helping businesses understand and act on their own financial performance — not just track it.
  • A clear and considered perspective on where AI fits within accounting and bookkeeping processes, with the judgment to distinguish transformative opportunity from hype.
  • Experience applying design thinking and business process analysis to untangle complex workflows and deliver experiences that feel simple on the surface, even when the domain is anything but.
  • An exceptional communicator — equally comfortable presenting strategy to executives and getting into the weeds on technical requirements with developers.
  • Proactively collaborative with a proven ability to work across and align multiple teams and functions to deliver outcomes that matter to both customers and the business.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset. You have a respectful disregard for the boundaries of your role and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Outcomes-focused: you obsess over impact, not output, and you can demonstrate how your work moved the metrics that matter.
  • Customer-obsessed: you talk to customers regularly, bring their voice into every decision, and know when to push back on data with lived experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in legal tech or an adjacent regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, professional services).
  • Familiarity with trust accounting regulations or legal-specific compliance requirements.
  • Background working with accounting integrations (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.) or building FinTech data pipelines.
  • Experience launching AI-first features in a high-trust or compliance-sensitive context.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a clear and defensible point of view on where AI can accelerate, automate, and improve accuracy in accounting workflows — and where human judgment must remain in the loop.
  • Partner with Design, Engineering, and Data to ensure every feature ships with the right metrics, feedback loops, and success criteria in place.
  • Build deep relationships with firm administrators, bookkeepers, accountants, and managing partners to understand how financial decisions are made inside legal practices.
  • Champion both compliance needs and business insight needs — helping firms not just stay compliant, but actually understand what their numbers mean.
  • Translate complex accounting concepts and regulatory requirements into product decisions that are clear enough for a junior developer to build and compelling enough for an executive to evangelize.
  • Collaborate across Billing, Payments, Reporting, and Platform teams to ensure Accounting integrates seamlessly into the broader Clio product ecosystem.
  • Partner with GTM, Customer Success, and Compliance stakeholders to drive adoption and reduce friction for customers transitioning to or expanding their use of Clio Accounting.

Benefits

  • Competitive, equitable salary with top-tier health benefits, dental, and vision insurance
  • Hybrid work environment, with expectation for local Clions (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Dublin, London, New York City and Sydney) to be in office min. twice per week.
  • Flexible time off policy, with an encouraged 20 days off per year.
  • $2000 annual counseling benefit
  • RRSP matching and RESP contribution
  • Clioversary recognition program with special acknowledgement at 3, 5, 7, and 10 years
