About The Position

SkyWater is hiring a Senior Product Engineering Manager for our Austin, TX site. This role involves managing the Wafer Inspection and Defect Density team, which is responsible for operations, applications, line health monitoring, and baseline defect improvement. The position requires leading a team of engineers, section managers, operators, and technicians, and utilizing structured problem-solving methods to enhance yield and quality. The manager will drive continuous improvement, respond to defect events, implement risk-based monitoring, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams. A key aspect of the role is defining and executing the long-term strategy for the group, including tool and systems roadmaps, cost management, support needs, organization, staffing, succession planning, and key metrics. The role also involves resolving technical and personnel issues within the team and mentoring leaders.

Requirements

  • A technology-related BS degree.
  • 10 years relevant experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing and unit process modules, operations and engineering management, defect metrology, yield modeling, physical/elemental analysis, and 6-sigma methods
  • Track record of formal high-performance team leadership, including goal management, planning, group development, budgeting, performance reviews, hiring/termination, and cross-functional collaboration
  • High internal drive with the ability to own, prioritize and perform under pressure
  • Possession of high integrity, accountability, good work ethic, respect for people, and ability to handle conflicts, inspire, develop, empower, and motivate
  • Positive demeanor in tough, demanding environment

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Wafer Inspection and Defect Density team for the Austin site, which is responsible for operations and applications, line health monitoring, and baseline defect improvement.
  • Lead a team of engineers, section managers, operators and technicians.
  • Utilize structured problem solving methods (8D, DMAIC, …) to lead or participate in cross functional teams that enhance yield and quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to streamline operations and improve key defect metrics.
  • Respond quickly and decisively to defect events and excursions to minimize impact, and drive comprehensive corrective and preventative actions.
  • Implement risk-based monitoring regimes to prevent or minimize events through early detection.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal maintenance teams to meet equipment uptime goals.
  • Mentor leaders. Develop and guide them where needed.
  • Define and execute long term strategy for the group (tool and systems roadmap, cost, support needs, organization, staffing, succession planning, key metrics, projects, global benchmarking, collaboration, etc.).
  • Resolve technical and personnel-related issues within the team.
