About The Position

Belle is a fast-growing engagement company revolutionizing home healthcare, starting with foot care. With over 25 million U.S. seniors unable to see or reach their feet, a lack of self-care and mobility challenges lead to over $38 billion in preventable medical spending annually for health insurance plans. Belle trains and manages a network of nail technicians, referred to as “Community Health Workers,” who provide in-home foot care, also known as medical pedicures. Belle utilizes advanced data science to identify individuals most in need on behalf of health plans and deploys its services accordingly. While in the home, Community Health Workers conduct assessments and screenings, often being the first to identify emerging issues. A team of remote nurses then coordinates care with other healthcare providers to prevent serious and costly episodes. Belle's mission is to 'Bring Joy to Healthcare.' We are seeking a Senior Product Engineer who will act as a true product partner. This role involves owning significant product areas, making architectural decisions, and influencing product development beyond just implementation. A key aspect of this position is data and analytics, where the engineer will be responsible for the infrastructure, models, and reporting that drive Belle as a KPI-driven organization. The ideal candidate will think in terms of patient and operational outcomes, balance tradeoffs against business impact, and be able to challenge specifications when data or user needs indicate a different direction. This role also entails setting the technical standard for the team and fostering the growth of those around them.

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software
Deep experience with React (or React Native) and Ruby on Rails—required
Strong command of SQL and relational databases—you can model data well, write performant queries, and reason about schema design. Data and analytics are a core pillar of this role, and our engineers own them, not just features
A track record of owning features or products end to end, including the product thinking behind them
Comfort operating with incomplete information, making decisions without extensive process, and building systems that may support 10x growth over the next few years
You're an early adopter and power user of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) and can show others how to get the most out of them
Strong product judgment: you've influenced what gets built, killed bad ideas early, and measured impact after shipping
A builder at heart—you make things on your own time because you can't help it
Experience mentoring engineers and elevating team standards
Excellent communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice To Haves

Metabase or similar BI tooling—you'll likely be building in it regularly
Inertia.js experience
Healthcare, digital health, Medicare, or value-based care experience
Experience in fast-paced, high-growth, or startup environments

Responsibilities

Lead the design and delivery of major features across our Ruby on Rails web app and React Native mobile app
Own data and analytics as a core part of the role—build and maintain the reporting, dashboards, and underlying data models the entire organization relies on to make decisions
Partner with product and clinical leadership to shape roadmap and translate operational strategy into technical direction
Own architecture and technical decisions for your areas; balance speed, scalability, and maintainability
Set the standard for how the team uses AI coding tools to ship faster without sacrificing quality
Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, and design discussion
Identify high-leverage opportunities in product, operations, and data—and drive them
Help shape engineering practices, standards, and culture as we scale
