About The Position

Unissant, Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join their team and support a Department of the Navy financial management training program in Herndon, VA. This role is part of a small, senior delivery team and involves working from discovery through delivery. The ideal candidate is a senior human-centered design practitioner capable of transforming complex business processes into clear, accessible digital products. Responsibilities include stakeholder sessions, requirements and workflow definition, creating wireframes and interactive prototypes, owning the design system, ensuring accessibility conformance, and supporting user acceptance testing.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of relevant experience in product design, user experience design, human-centered design, interaction design, visual design, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing web-based applications, workflow tools, portals, dashboards, enterprise systems, or other complex digital solutions.
  • Experience developing user flows, wireframes, prototypes, mockups, and implementation-ready design specifications.
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, heuristic evaluation, or design validation activities.
  • Working knowledge of modern user experience and design tools such as Figma, Miro, FigJam, Adobe XD, Sketch, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience collaborating with business stakeholders, analysts, developers, testers, and project managers in an iterative delivery environment.
  • Familiarity with accessibility practices, including Section 508 compliance principles.
  • United States citizenship is required.
  • An active Top Secret (TS) security clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred but not required.
  • Relevant certifications in user experience, human-centered design, accessibility, or agile delivery are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct discovery sessions with stakeholders and users to understand current processes, user needs, pain points, business rules, and desired future-state workflows.
  • Translate requirements into user journeys, process flows, information architecture, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity interface designs.
  • Design clear, easy-to-use experiences for data collection, workflow tracking, status visibility, review, approval, documentation, and reporting functions.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and software engineers to ensure designs are feasible, complete, and aligned with functional and technical requirements.
  • Conduct usability reviews and user feedback sessions, document findings, and refine designs based on results.
  • Apply accessibility and responsive design practices in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Prepare design specifications, annotated mockups, and other handoff materials to support implementation and testing.
  • Support user acceptance testing, training materials, and iterative product improvement as needed.
