About The Position

Reimagine the infrastructure of cancer care within a community that values integrity, inspires growth, and is uniquely positioned to create a more modern, connected oncology ecosystem. Flatiron Health is looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer to help accomplish its mission to improve lives by learning from the experience of every cancer patient. This role involves working on Clinical Tools within OncoEMR, an electronic health record used to coordinate and facilitate patient care in cancer clinics across the United States. The work will involve designing new workflows and implementing usability enhancements, empowering a wide range of caregivers throughout a patient’s treatment journey. The designer will collaborate closely with oncologists, nurses, practice administrators, research coordinators, data scientists, engineers, product managers, health informaticists, and other designers in a flexible environment, learning about the intricacies of the healthcare system, and delivering well-designed solutions that will change how design is applied to healthcare products and processes.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to make informed decisions on when to utilize AI and when traditional interaction patterns are more appropriate
  • Experience working within and beyond an established design system, and have opinions on best practices and ways to scale adoption
  • Enjoy collaborating with both engineering and design to deliver improvements and impact through consistency in UI
  • A portfolio that tells the story of how you’ve applied design to solve problems in the past, starting at an idea and ending with a solution in the hands of your users, as well as what you learned throughout the process
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and comfort working with expert-level users to translate complex user requirements into intuitive digital experiences
  • Experience conducting research with internal and external users, using those insights to refine everything from high-level product strategy to specific interface states

Responsibilities

  • Be involved in every stage of the design process, from discovery user research to product scoping to feature implementation
  • Observe and talk to doctors, nurses, and operations staff in order to consider and evaluate problems from multiple angles, identifying user needs
  • Generate hypotheses and help frame solutions through both quantitative and qualitative user research methods
  • Leverage AI design tools to accelerate your workflow, from rapid prototyping of complex clinical ideas to streamlining design documentation and stakeholder artifacts
  • Work within a cross-functional team to validate both low and hi-fidelity interaction design prototypes using feedback from internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify edge cases and display states to accurately show complex patient data, ensuring a high bar for user trust and transparency
  • Communicate your ideas through design presentations and workshops to create alignment on proposed solutions and next steps before moving into feature development
