About The Position

Whop is hiring a Senior Product Counsel to serve as the primary legal partner to its product, engineering, payments and risk teams. The role advises on the design, launch and operation of payments, payouts and marketplace products, with a focus on payments regulation, consumer protection and platform liability. The counsel will work with product teams from the earliest stages of development to identify legal and regulatory requirements and find practical paths to launch, engaging outside counsel selectively for specialist and jurisdiction-specific questions. The position covers payment products and partnerships, financial crimes compliance, marketplace and platform issues, consumer protection, user-facing terms and policies, privacy, data and AI, international launches, regulatory engagement, and scalable product-review guidance. It also involves supporting licensing applications, regulator inquiries and examinations, and coordinating with local counsel on international requirements. Whop is an in-office company of about 100 people. This role is based in Brooklyn, New York, or Palo Alto, California, and is in office five days a week. It reports to the General Counsel. Whop describes its working culture as emphasizing rigor, root-cause thinking, candor and alignment, while offering team members ownership, resources and autonomy. The role's base salary range has not yet been provided; total compensation includes equity.
