About The Position

Figma is growing its team and is looking for a proactive, business-minded Senior Product Counsel to join the Product Legal team. This role will serve as a primary legal partner for the Product, Design, and Engineering (PDE) teams, assisting them with complex legal questions as product releases accelerate. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with an ownership mentality, capable of building a practical, forward-looking approach to risk management. The position reports to the Director, Product Legal, and will be instrumental in scaling legal guidance across the organization. This is a full-time role that can be based in one of Figma's US hubs or remotely within the United States.

Requirements

In-depth experience counseling on legal issues relating to technology, IP, privacy, data protection, consumer protection, and AI.
Proven ownership mentality, including hands-on engagement with product details, process-building from scratch, and independent prioritization.
A business-first, solution-oriented approach, including comfort making independent decisions and taking smart risks with imperfect information.
Demonstrated interest in AI and experience advising on AI-powered products or platforms.
8+ years of legal experience.
J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent).
U.S.-qualified.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in-house at a SaaS company.
Familiarity with using and advising on ML/AI products.
A technical background is a huge plus.

Responsibilities

Partner directly with Figma's Product, Design, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to provide practical legal guidance on product development and go-to-market strategy.
Review product user experiences, disclosures, and external marketing and communications materials to mitigate legal risk while helping teams achieve their goals.
Partner with cross-functional Legal teams (Commercial, IP, Regulatory) to ensure cohesive strategy and support.
Advise on legal issues relating to data protection, privacy, consumer protection, IP, and evolving AI-specific laws and regulations.
Develop and build out the processes, resources, and scaffolding needed to help the team scale legal guidance as product releases accelerate.
Identify and communicate emerging legal risks early in the product development cycle to enable faster, more confident decision-making.
